The team played like shiit against a shiitty team. Its gonna be a long season. I hope we win half our games.

Our defense wasn’t good regardless of the stats. We forced some turnovers but we didn’t pressure them well and we were a few dropped passes from being in deep trouble. Any power 5 offense puts up big numbers today. Bad tackling. Bad angles. Can’t make plays on the ball. Guys running open. This isn’t scalable to better competition. We got lucky we were playing a JUCO team tonight
Looked as inept as Deerfield Beach.

Defense looked really bad. I'm sure it was more obvious at the stadium than on television. There were wide open spaces galore, and potential for even more of them upon competent scheming and opponent personnel. Fortunately their quarterback threw some line drives that were too hot for their dropsie receivers to handle.

Both teams relied too much on deep slow developing drops. I never understand the attraction of that in college football, where quick pops over the middle are so available.

Bethune Cookman's offense was planetary inept. So absurdly condensed. I mentioned a few days ago that I don't know how anyone could evaluate anything about our defense from that game. So it was kind of predictable that a more competent offense made us look bad.

There was a far greater gap between Bethune Cookman and Central Michigan than the pointspread or conventional wisdom allowed. I don't think the Canes' players or coaching staff recognized that, or was prepared for it. That's how the game ended up so physically competitive. Central Michigan has been a decent MAC program for many years until 2018, when they took a 1-year dive due to the worst passing game in the country.

Overall the game reminded me quite a bit of a game I attended in 2015...Kentucky hosting Eastern Kentucky. That pointspread was the same general area (-27.5) but the game turned into a dogfight because Eastern Kentucky had a big physical blue collar defensive line that controlled the bulk of the game. Eastern Kentucky really should have won that game. They had a 14 point lead in the 4th quarter before losing in overtime.

That Kentucky team had a power rating similar to current Miami. There is simply no margin for error at that level. No birthright to anything. This program needs to improve 10-14 points before any of the offseason garbage around here is anything but laugh worthy.

BTW, I saw Zion today. Maybe we'll be treated to another thread like that. Last week I saw a post touting him for early first round, based on a performance against Bethune Cookman.

Never be a Happy Adjuster. Post game around here wouldn't be so emotional if not for so many Miami fans actually ingesting the Happy Adjuster crap.

From what I saw, this team isn't any better from game one and looks worse considering who the opponent was. We look undisciplined and immature.

As of now, we're a middle of the pack - ACC bottom feeder.

Blocked because the other “great player” Mallory whiffed on a block.
Heady goes the same way every time on those Australian rules football kicks. Va Tech will load up on that and we will hear the phrase Beamer Ball again, even though that guys been retired for years.
