Not to threadjack but wasn't the main reason Richt stopped recruiting Newton because of the whole dirty recruitment/daddy taking $$ thing?

no. They wanted him as a TE. lol

Tai is a dual threat QB to the same extent Jameis Winston was. He can pick up some yards here and there, but he's not a runner.

As long as the guy has a serviceable arm, the 3 biggest things I look for in a QB: accuracy; clutch play; and leadership. Arm strength is often what people fall in love with, and it's usually tremendously overrated.

Tai looks like he has the accuracy, but I don't know enough about him to know if he's clutch or is a great leader.
Great post! People love to fall in love with 7 on 7 tournaments and pro days. What do you do in your game tape is what counts to me. Arm strength means nothing if you can’t accurately hit a target.

Nice write up, Roman. Good detail, and useful observations. Worth every bit of the $75/month subscription.

You should try to remove that "non commitable offer" **** from your vocabulary, as it makes you look like a rube. It's total fiction. It doesn't exist. There is either an offer, or there isn't one.

If you can't accept it, then it's not an offer. "Non commitable offer" was a term made up by dummies, and all it means is "we're interested in you, but we're not offering yet."

Saying "non commitable offer" is like claiming to have had non-penetrable intercourse.

While I don't disagree with the non-committable offer stance, then we have to realize most of these writers (including Pete while he was going strong) don't know Jack then...

We can go through every headline on this site from last couple years with the title "UM offers player X", and we all know some of them are very iffy. For instance Ashton Pierre headline BIG AS DAY on this site last summer..."Miami offers Deerfield LB/ATH Pierre". A week later or as the season progressed there is not one person on this site that believes Pierre could have committed to UM. Did we recruit? Yes? Do we know what the coaches said to Pierre? No...But we know he could not have committed to UM if he wanted.

This year for instance it will be interesting to see if Darius Williams offer is legit, because it has definitely been reported that UM offered.

I never meant to suggest that anyone really knows ****. They only know what the kids tell them, and they lie all the time about offers.

Lots of these kids have interest from UM. Most of them don’t have actual offers.

Be responsible about the things you say though. #1 maybe its fair to call his comp joke level. However to not put that same qualification over every recruit at qb weve offered this year is not being real.#2 his comp is stronger than everyone weve seen except possibly wise. That being said doesnt mean im saying its good over all. His comp is like playing against belin & coral shores etc year round maybe is the way its looked at. Hes been a starter at qb for his prep school since his 8th grade year.
@Trescerocinco maybe before ****ting on the kids schedule notice it’s not just teams in ct. it’s a boarding school league with pg’s.

Regardless northeastern boarding schools are not considered on par with Georgia, cali, Texas and Florida. It's an arbitrary point because of the fact that the kid needs to be offered regardless.

precisely!

if the kid goes to Avon, his academics and milieu are not an issue, and it more than makes up for any questions about competition.

by the way, the Founders League in which they play is no joke. just because it's not filled with gangbangers, doesn't mean it's not serious. it has an excellent cadre of coaches. particularly at the technical levels required for QB's. much closer to southern california for example, where the HS mentoring for QB's is strong. (unlike south florida where the QB coaching is laughable).

i played in that league as a QB, was all-conference in college as a QB, and coached the position for 2 seasons when i graduated. i can promise you that if the kid looks good in that league, it's because he is.

What's the reason for saying this part?
