QB Judd Anderson commits to Miami

Judd Anderson, a three-star QB out Jones County High in Gray (GA), has committed to Miami.

Miami also wanted to sign Air Noland, who is headed to Ohio State. But make no mistake- Miami's pursuit of Judd Anderson is independent of anything that happened with Noland. He is, and has been, a major priority for them.

They love his frame (6'6 in person), athleticism (19/14 in hoops as a sophomore) and arm strength. He's also a 4.0 student and a home run off the field. Shannon Dawson is a driving force in this recruitment and believes this kid could be a monster as he continues to develop as a dropback passer. Anderson previously played in a Wing T, and they believe the game film is more telling than the stats. Internally, his recruitment has been compared to Emory Williams- a guy who outperformed Jaden Rashada at the Elite 11 and has made an outstanding impression so far in spring.

For those who will say that Miami is just scrambling following the departure of Air Noland, here is a snippet from the March 3rd edition of the Bank:

I get taking a guy that will be a project in college. But taking a guy that is a project in high school feels G5. Jacurri Brown is an example.

This is one of the most bizarre evaluations I’ve ever seen. There is absolutely nothing to suggest this kid can play QB in a P5 conference. No reason he should be getting a scholarship to Miami. I can’t imagine we are actually going to sign him.

I mean it was clearly because they whiffed on everybody else at that time, since no one wanted to play for last year's Miami offense lol

Hopefully with what they've shown Cristobal and Dawson can circle back and get someone good

Same. I tried my best but it’s obvious we need to move in another direction. A JUCO QB with wheels would be a better investment of a scholarship.

It's not really that weird. The issue is we are grading him on a QB1 scale. If he were going to USF or FAU it would be fine. Their is a reason no one else has won by recruiting that way.

We should find him a G5 or FCS spot. If he does well, we can take him out of the portal. Or, offer him a PWO spot. These spots are too valuable to give a scholarship to a guy who is a bad HS quarterback. It is what it is.

I get the take initially. No clear answers on the depth chart coupled the outgoing OC poisoned the well as far as '24 QB prospects go. With TVD's resurgence, Emory's development and already having the stud '25 kid in the boat, I'm good moving on here and trying to get a veteran backup in the portal or a JUCO kid.

The erratic inconsistency, ugly INT's, and inaccuracy seem to be constants with Judd from last season through this year. Have to hope we keep winning and showing out offensively, which should help us flip a premier QB to replace Judd in this class

We need a significant upgrade at QB in this class AND a premier portal QB. Fingers crossed that continued on-field success can make both of those things possible.

Agreed on the former but not on the latter. Emory looks like he'll be the guy next year so I don't think we need to be looking for a starter via the portal
