Q & A with Booker T Head Coach Harris

Sounds like Ice wants UM to work harder at his school as it doesnt seem he wants BTW to be known as a feeder school.

Which makes perfect sense. You want as many different programs as possible to view your kids and get them as much exposure as possible. People act like Ice should be pushing kids here while they criticize other coaches for doing the same thing to other programs.

To me the whole issue is what he said to the media but i think that both since ****ed up in a way and they have to get to an equal ground and if they do then all can be forgiven easily

I agree he shouldnt have gone to the media. But that doesnt mean hes guilty of what some people around here suggest.

I agree with that but he set himself up for that criticism so now he knows he has to make up for it because there will be a recruit who isnt like Thomas and is all UM and then he will be the bad guy just like Gatewood so they have to come to an understanding or everybody will get hurt especially the players

Ice Harris exemplifies everything that is wrong with recruiting in South Florida. Dude never even went to college yet annoints himself the czar and gatekeeper of college selection for his kids. MT is case and point...I'm sorry but there is NO rational reason any kid with talent coming out of BTW should EVER select FSU over UM if both options are available--that school is simply inferior on every dimension that matters for a kids future. IMO, Ice likes being the center of attention at the expense of his kids--he must get off on having recruiting staffs from various schools kissing his behind. The long term fix is getting an army of former Canes coaching HS football.
Ice shouldn't be pushing kids to any school. Ice should be trying to help kids get noticed then guiding them through the process. Ice has an obligation to the kids he coaches not a certain college. People get ****ed when coaches push kids to other schools (Alex Collins) but praise them when they push kids to Miami.

Yeah, like high school coaches in alabama push their kids to MIAMI.

Man all yall saying negative things about this man but he has helped plenty of young black males from inner city schools and neighborhoods rougher than most of you all can ever imagine and yall cursing this man out cause some of his players choose to go elsewhere other than Miami? That's sad

Lol at making it seem like its just because a player didn't choose Miami. Yeah let's forget about his crying to the media and making **** blow up when it shouldn't have like that.

Brah...ur whole post is WRONG from start to finish.

1.) Ice went to college.

2.) Get over the Matt Thomas thing.,.....He was a TROLL...an quite frankly i dont even think he was that much of a troll(dude didnt even want to visit)....Ice and his son while actually "PUSHING" um...had to beg Matt Thomas to ANSWER um coaches calls...kid didnt even want to answer Barrow's calls and actually was turned off by us...Ice got him to atleast give us a "look".

3.) Ice i dont think gets off on college coaches etc....dude has been coaching along time...and at all inner city schools...in fact he is at one of the tougher schools to coach at off the field because Overtown is the toughest section in MIAMI DADE..

that being said i dont like him runnning to the media but i think it was a heat of the moment thing..think it was last recruiting class...an i think we have a clean slaate this year and he probably is good..him an barrow were always good anyway

Truth. Other than going to the media in the heat of the moment he wasn't doing anything wrong. Just trying to have his kids back. Thats what a high school coach is supposed to do. It's embarrassing all the ignorant **** that gets said about people around here.

1) Harris played three years as a defensive back at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wis., never graduated. Hardly the qualifications of a world-class guidance counselor.
2) If MT was a troll, why wouldn't his coach tell him to come clean with UM sooner? Fact is, Harris encourages his kids to play the hat game, "to have their fun", all at the expense of UM, the staff, team and program. When those recruits end up dis'n the U on signing day after years of effort from the coaching staff, it's bad for everyone.
3) Going to the media is the definition of being the center of attention.

Maybe Ice is looking out for the best interests of his kids but color me skeptical. It's a funny coincidence that since his buddy RS left, Ice's son left the program to turn pro prematurely, MT went to our in-state rival, and DK went to Ark (where RS is on staff)--all really bad moves from any objective perspective. Hopefully, we turn over a new leaf in 2014...

SOME here are silly. It's man has done more for our young inner city kids than probably any current coach in Dade County. Not every player he has is going to wanna come to Miami, I'm sure most here would have been raving about him had FSU pulled what we did with Kirkland and he went to the media on them. It was the heat of the moment and he was backing his player. He has more loyalty to those kids than he does the University of Miami and that should be understood.

By the way, do you think it's hurting him if UM doesn't recruit his son, Treon? The kid have offers from other top schools so it really doesn't matter. I'm sure UM will offer him late and he'll choose to go elsewhere and a lot of people here will say its Ice's fault. Everything shouldn't be looked at through orange and green sunglasses.

I'm not too sure about that. I don't think Miami is actively recruiting him right now, which they should be in my opinion.

I thought it was reported last week that he did have one? But I do agree i've been saying to my friends I just don't see us recruiting him hard and most likely wouldn't be in the class imo.

I mean he might "have" an offer, but if Miami isn't calling him and keeping in touch, etc, then I don't consider it an offer

Would you say As a DB or slot? If we want a slot I prefer Lamar Parker

True dat true dat.

What position are they going to recruit Treon Harris for? He is nothing special as a quarterback, we should set our sites much higher.
