Greentree...where the stars are made

Repped like a ****. Everything sounds great on Greentree, like it does every year. And, I don't want to hear **** about Thompkins until he does something in a game.

Eh, theyre just reports. Only prOb I really have is the expected slant toward the kids that people want to do well generally freshmen. I have to admit that I'd be far more pleased to hear about strides from older guys. Maybe it's just my impression but we dont hear much about guys like gaines and buchanon and smith, cleveland/walford, hurns, clements, vt, etc. as much as we may love freshmen, no good team is made off of these young guys. Three years ago this was thompkins now everyone wants to discard him. Our improvement is far more likely to be based on the leaps made by the guys who actually played last year. I remember finnie being all over these reports because people wanted to believe but at the end of the day he couldnt play over mike williams.

Real ****

Got to admit, these reports are getting me pretty jacked up about our future. Just hope we arent setting ourselves up for disappointment. Appreciate the reports, but maybe it would help to have a little more discussion/critical analysis of some of our weaknesses too. Seems like we do this every year, its the "Greentree All American" squad, then we **** and moan when we struggle out there.

Im particularly worried about QB and how the OL is looking. And as excited as I am about Mr. Ivery's future here, how is the rest of the interior line looking? That was a huge problem last year that needs to get fixed with the young LBs we have.

Peter you have me mixing more powder in my koolaid mix.

Love the reports.

Perhaps you could include whose sucking *** (sans Thompkins because that's the norm)?

Lol.

Telemaque hasn't done much..(maybe not a surprise to most)

Briscoe needs a redshirt IMO, needs to get in the weight room

Gianni Paul hasn't been spectacular

Those are just a few names that come to mind

Add more stuff like this to your reports and we'll be Golden.

True, although the coaches seem to be confirming a lot of it, and not all of it is prompted by specific questions about freshmen.

For example, Tracy Howard earned a black jersey. Maybe it was a motivational ploy for McGee, or maybe it was just part of the plan to get everyone working with the ones, but he seems to be legit.

Ya because every Freshman is Ray Lewis.

LULZ

Unfortunately you won't have to worry, he blew his knee out today.

Realistically, were everyone healthy, Tracy Howard looks like the only freshman right now who is STARTING--Duke maybe some kind of co-starter in the committee and maybe Flowers can truly push Henderson. Howard may not be much of a surprise considering the alternatives--not unlike DVD starting in 2007. So, again, this team is not going to win games because of a lot of guys we're talking about. We're going to win/lose based on Rodgers, Telemaque, McGee who is 3/4's of the secondary. But Howard is the guy who we hear about all the time. Do you really think that Howard is THAT much better than Telemaque? Was Finnie that much better than the other corners? Turned out no and the old guy from Wake was the guy the coaches played.

I think the freshmen amp the excitement and I hope that the give us an exciting team that tries hard, but they won't give us a good team. Tracy Howard is extremely likely to struggle. Even Ed Reed wasn't that good as a freshman. It doesn't do the coaches much good to tell you where a freshman is weak, and we tend to blow their positive comments out of proportion. Incidentally, this is why a lot of kids "regress." We tend to vastly overrate their freshman performance and then when they are truly relied upon as players we appreciate their deficiencies and blame somebody. This may happen to Perryman a bit this year now that he's supposed to be our best guy rather than Spence whose importance dwarfed Perryman in laughable fashion. We'll see.

I'd get excited if somebody told me Curtis Porter is dominating out there.

What are you rambling about? Freshmen can succeed and play solid football.

And what's this rigmarole about one player being more important than the other? Wut? Howard is just as important as McGee. What makes McGee any more important? Or Telamaque? Or Rodgers? ****, for our sakes, Howard is 10498028908 times more important in the long run since he is a FR that will return while McGee is just another overrated Shammin has been that will be gone no matter what.

And yes of course i'd be happy if Porter was dominating out there. But i'd be even more happy if Ivery was dominating out there.

Big blow IMO. At the very least he would be solid on STs and back up LB. Knee problem could be one of the reasons he wasn't looking good, someone said he had been limping around already on Tuesday.

I expect Perryman, Buchanon, Gaines, Johnson, Kirby to get most of the reps but we can't afford another injury there. Hopefully we can get something from Cornelius and Armbrister.

Peter,

What FR DT looks the best? Is Corey King going to give us anything (heard mixed reviews)?

What the word on Gabe Terry?

All I'm gonna say is don't be so quick to throw away G.Paul....

I appreciate everything. Some of you are nitpickers and I think the best thing is to go back to canestime, canesport, or even the herald, but leave this board alone with the weak sh*t.

Ivery looks best of the freshmen DTs. I'm not high on King.

Terry needs weight, but is playing a good amount. He should redshirt but may need to play after the Paul and Witt injuries.

How is Earl Moore doing out there? Not too many people were talking about Ivery but i see he has a bandwagon, just by reading some of the post... I too said that Briscoe needs to redshirt and add some strength. I was never too big on Cory King either... He was just a roster fill recruit... Please fill me in on our wideouts... D. Jones and Jontavious Carter... and also DE J. Hamilton... Do you think any OL RS?

Not going to start a new thread with this info b/c it's nothing earth-shattering, so I'll just drop it here:

I saw a ton of the kids this morning.

1. Seantrel is as lean as he has ever been here. I know we all question his attitude and commitment, but it *looks* like he put in some work over the summer to get in shape.
2. Deon Bush does NOT look like a freshman DB. Kid has legitimate size. He is every bit the 6'1" 195 he's listed at, and might be 200+. Physically, this kid is going to leave this campus a beast. Let's hope that his size translates to production.
3. Clive Walford is a man. Play like one.
4. Ereck Flowers ... I know DMoney and Ariz have been high on him. But, let me say this ... I think he's lean. Will he have the strength and bulk to make an impact as a freshman? I don't know. We'll see. Certainly, size doesn't necessarily equate to production, talent, strength, power or technique; but he has room to grow and fill out his frame. Like Bush, another kid who will leave campus a beast. Frankly, I'd rather have a lean kid with the capability to add good, lean weight, than an overweight kid whose baby fat has to be stripped (or having to constantly monitor weight and keep it down).
5. EDIT: Lockhart ... someone ship this boy some meat and potatoes! Kid is skinny.

Most of the kids I could not identify. Chalk that up to so many freshman.

/getting pumped for the season.
