Some of those guys are just playing because there isn’t anybody else. I wouldn’t say they look like superstars yet.

McCoy was someone the previous staff found. Not sure we we are giving Cristobal credit?

And all together that’s not a lot of players.

And I never said he can’t recruit. You’ve now added that.

"McCoy was someone the previous staff found"

Pretty sure that's not true

The scrimmage format allowed you to get a feel for the QBs.

Tyler has been there before and it shows; he's the clear starter.

Jacurri is never really in rhythm; back foot hits at the top of his drop and he doesn't know where he wants to go with the football. Now the timing of the play is off and he either presses an errant throw or improvises with his feet. Footwork is generally poor and he's unreliable when it comes to executing the offense.

Emory has huddle command and pre-snap presence to go with his feel for the position and accuracy; he'd do it a little differently, but I believe the offense would be just as successful with him as it would be with Tyler. He doesn't carry himself like an EE who arrived in January or someone competing to be Tyler's back-up; I think people are quietly in awe of how much he doesn't look like a rookie and he has everyone's attention when he's on the field.
The problem for Jacurri is that everyone Raves about him in practice and this and that with ceiling being the moon. And then u see him live and it’s dog****. Believe what ur eyes tell u and that’s he’s FAR away from being ready to be the guy.hoping Tyler stays healthy allowing him to grow for next year

We have to relax man please don’t set the kid up like this lol

There is one thing wrong with Emory. He wasn’t a 5 star recruit. Had he been, we would be reading posts today about how people can’t wait for him to take over next season. Instead, there is an assumption that because of his recruiting ranking, there must be something “lesser” about him such that we see him as someone we might “have to” accept while not being sure we “want to” accept him.

For those who feel this way I feel bad for you because someone other than you is making up your mind about the quality of player.
I got ****blasted when I explained how he actually wasn't worse compared to Rashada.

You only need 1 good season for bandwagon fans. See: 2017 turnout vs VT when we were what...6-0 at the time?
I was a season ticket holder from 2016-2020. I was at the Clemson 56-0 game. I was at the OB when we lost to GaTech. That 2017 year, the fans came out. Even vs Toledo and ****.

Anyone have the stats? Specifically the QB stats.

Also a scrimmage setting is not going to give you the best version of Jacurri Brown.

He can't use his legs and athleticism which basically makes him play with 1 arm tied behind his back.

"Hey super quick athletic PG, you can only shoot 3's, you can't drive to the basket, and let's see how effective he is.

He isn't a good 7 on 7 passer yet, also he has been on campus for like 18 months.

I know I saw him win a conference road game as a true freshman where he tossed 3 TD passes.

Probably know what they have in Parrish and held him back

I was told Allen went for close to a 100 on maybe 6-7 carries. Tvd had close to 200 1-1.

One huge issue is the speed of the D1 game. Practice is one thing ... and normally a lot slower than an actual game environment. Sure you can become effective IN DRILLS, but then, in a game, when you have to scan the field, evaluate the coverage, make decisions on what you're most likely going to do with the ball given coverage, then take the snap, manage the pocket, and THEN throw without thinking about footwork / mechanics etc. Like Spurrier said "only 25% of HIGHLY QUALIFIED HS QB's CAN MAKE THE ADJUSTMENT TO THE SPEED OF D1 BALL". It's a lot easier for an elite athlete to play TE than QB. We might be seeing that with Jacurri.

I have been a fan of his since he committed. Ponce got caught up in the Gattass stink. But I thought of him as a smart evaluator and good coach, and Williams was his recruit. The tape flashed a ton of upside to me, just like TVD’s.

That said, I think you’re being wayyyyy too optimistic believing Williams is ready to be our QB2 and step in and win games for us if TVD goes down. The biggest risk this team faces this season is an injury to Tyler. I think the drop off would be steep. Fingers crossed we never need to run the experiment.

Fair.

There will be growing pains, but everything about the way he carries and prepares himself says he'll continue to develop despite the circumstances. Emory is a little stiff and may lack improvisational skills, but he gets the ball out with good rhythm and accuracy. I make the statement about running the offense because TVD doesn't improvise very well either; at this point only live reps will tell us how good he can be.

I wasn’t there yesterday but slow down with Jacurri slander. He’s a true sophomore in his second offense in his second year. That can’t be easy. Besides, still really early in camp (and his career).

Not saying he’s gonna be the next Cam, but don’t write him off just yet either.

set the kid up for what?

Nothing I or anyone says will impact his development or how well he plays.

Citizen was posted up and moved like someone who doesn't quite trust his knee (right if i'm not mistaken).
