- Backup QB. This is the trickiest one on the list, because who wants to be a backup? But Jacurri would love a redshirt and he could use one as well. A kid from FCS could make sense.

- Starting-caliber running back. Don Chaney has made plays all spring but cannot be relied upon for obvious reasons. TreVonte Citizen is probably out until mid-season due to a setback in his recovery, and you don't want to rush him. Last year, we looked fairly deep and still had to rely on a UAB kid off the street. They want to add someone who is a legitimate player and not just a body.

- Speedy flanker/Z. The WRs are in better shape than I expected. Colbie Young and Xavier Restrepo look like good starters, and Jacolby George, Isaiah Horton and Breshard Smith have all flashed at various times. You also have explosive freshmen in Ray Ray Joseph and Robby Washington. The missing piece is a true deep threat with speed who scares defenses. The guys we have are more run-and-catch types.

- Backup interior OL. I've been talking about this on the podcast for a while. They want to add a backup center. Watch Luis Cristobal in the Portal as a guy who has started games. They are otherwise good with the Top 8 of Rivers, Cohen, Lee, Cooper ,Mauigoia, Nelson, McCoy and Okunlola.

- Big DT. This isn't just a plugger- they want someone with size, athleticism and, preferably, eligibility. Ahmad Moten's emergence has helped this group, but you still need another guy.

- LB. Put this one as a maybe. They'd take the right guy.

- Safety/nickel. I believe they are looking for a guy who is a big nickel- someone who lines up in the slot with coverage ability but has more physicality than a Te'Cory Couch. If we get that type of guy, you may see someone like Jaden Harris fortifying the safety position. He fits better there- faster than quick with good tacking ability.

- Cornerback. In terms of priority, this may be #1. We need one or two starting caliber guys. The tricky thing is that these guys are hard to find. Hopefully, we get lucky with some Portal entries.

That’s an expensive and wishful Christmas list. Someone needs to have been a heck of a lot more nice than naughty this year to expect that.

Would be good / surprised if we hit on half of this list. I do believe the collective is in much better shape now than it was four months ago. Mario will have some fire power beyond life walletv
Encouraging to hear.

Serious question, how do I count posts? Is there a number somewhere on the screen? I'd like to see 77.

We talk about needing player depth a lot on here, rightfully so. We need to stack talent for real. Does anyone know what kind of "depth" we have in NIL? Of course we hear Ruiz, etc, but how deep of pockets do we REALLY have? I hate that college football has become this way although I'm glad the players can make bank. Are we anywhere near top 5-10 in what we can do NIL wise? Sincerely asking. I have no idea.

I know some people will state their case for WR/DB, and rightfully so, but for me this one is easy...we need help on the interior D-Line. I think if you were to ask Mario he would admit that our O-Line is SEC caliber, or at the very least we’re close, but on the D-Line we aren’t. I love our edge guys, but my biggest fear this coming season, if we don’t get any help, is going against a tough, physical team that runs the ball right at us. We simply aren’t big enough, and even though Jackson wasn’t great he ate up space which is what we desperately need. If we can land at least one big interior DL in the portal I’d feel much more confident going into the season.

Our OLine isn’t there. We have no depth

QB-

@DMoney REMEMBER WE LIKED HIM COMING OUT. Dont know if he would be open to a clear back up role in his grad year. But it would be coming back to Florida.

I think an FCS grad transfer at QB is feasible. You’d be selling higher education, beautiful location, chongas & chance to play D1 football at a prestigious school.
This is one i would try to coax intot he portal...

had a solid 2 games vs Cal an SD State to start his szn. Pick 6 vs Cal and a nother great play for a pick by a safety...but through it 50 times against cal.

Looks to be about 6'0 190-6'1 190

Probably wont scare off any one...has playing experience.

I’ll just say he had a setback with the injury and it set things back. I wouldn’t rule out the entire year but they‘re hoping they can get him back this season. It’s still early. There’s a reason I kept telling people to not count him in the rotation for the season just yet , that was a few weeks ago.
Man what a nightmare.

Guy is literally possibly starting as a true freshman, gets hurt before the season starts, and could miss 2 entire seasons?

That's tough...

You guys all think every single thing you're not seeing NOW is clearly a big issue. It's not. Whether it's youth or not we need them to get experience and quickly. Several of the spots don't require grooming. Simply quality. #1 we're still dealing with some significant injuries & #2 we still have quite a few high quality recruits that aren't on campus now. Some you simply need to throw in the fire.

What is scary is that he might never be the same player again. Really a trajedy. Kid had NFL future writing all over him.
