Age matters when you're evaluating a player in a specific context. A 20 year old dominating HS ball is less impressive than a 16 year old doing the same.

But age isn't necessarily an indicator of upside. Carson Wentz was an old rookie and he improved dramatically in year 2 (growth during the season even) while plenty of young QB prospects never pan out. The best indicators of upside are physical tools, potential areas for improvement and intangibles.

From what I can tell Jobe has great physical tools, lots of room to improve with technique and positional awareness, and subpar intangibles. He has high upside but a lower floor and his age doesn't really factor into that projection much. If he was old, small, slow and polished then you could say he has low upside.

He’s not 20 years old for the last time ****.....
Mark Pope, Mike Harley is/were both 19 in highschool, Demetrius Jackson(think he was 20 in highschool) yet y’all don’t say sh*t about their age. That sh*t weak as **** period

Did any of them age out of highschool sports and have to transfer to a prep school and then still have possible issues qualifying?? No, so STFU!
Did any of them have a learning disability?

I'm doubtful on "learning disabilities" for kids who were born in the US in middle class families, held back at least once, and attended 2 elite private schools. ADHD is radically overdiagnosed. If you can pay attention to every snap of a football game or every second of a porno movie you don't have ADD. You just would rather not do homework.

Somehow kids in South Korea don't seem to have "learning disabilities" at nearly the same rate we do. Most "LD" kids, if they do not have a comorbid physical condition like Downs Syndrome or something similar, are either dumb or lazy

Every time I read a Brock post I feel Deja Vu. Am I crazy?

I'm heading to the shrink asap.

Peter Ariz Is there any chance Miami moves on from purely from a character standpoint? We're not really at the point where we can afford to take too many "me first" guys and the rest of this class seems to be made up of high character kids.

Please advise.

Hes choosing between which school to go to, he hasnt killed anyone? We can all hate the fact that he skates to bama but how is it character issues if u are undecided? This is how it is new age this aint even 10 years ago, so much is different now. The staff wouldnt recruit him if he had character issues.

Some of y’all sound like some fans y’all accuse Bama fans of being if they don’t come to their school by saying jobe is dumb or 20years old. You wouldn’t be saying none of that if he was locked in. The kid has a learning disability stfu about his age already.... Can’t stand hypocrites Man i swear...

The one thing I cant stand and I cant say everyone, is they get mad that he leaves (me included) but I dont get how it makes him have character issues or he sucks. A guy like Franchise at least is real and says fuq this kid hes gone but he doesnt diminish the fact that the kid all of a sudden sucks, hes a great player always has been probably always will be. I wont lie either if he spurns us which I believe he will then fuq this kid

Jobe was older than all of the players you just mentioned by months. Neither of the players you just listed had to forgo their senior years because they hit the age limit. D-Jax is 23 years old now, so if the math is right, I doubt he was 20 in high school.

Great info and understanding, Pete.

If I may,

1. You gotta work on a bit of a Southern drawl - maybe a speech coach, or you can spend the Summer maybe in Slapout, Alabama.

2. Pick up some Southern phrases for color. Rather than say, "this guy has great reach and great quickness," you can throw in something like "yo, this guy is slicker than snot on a doorknob."

Or, for example a cornerback "his ability to cover is tighter than a bulls *** during fly season."

Or, Alabama recruiters: "They just like hemorroids. Pain in the *** when they come down, and always a relief when they go back up."

A receiver recruit could possibly be "faster than green grass through a goose." or he could be "slower than a Sunday afternoon."

I won't go on, but you get the gist. You're really, really good at what you do - I just want you to be GREAT.

My take? Recruiting is the most "expensivest" thing. Hearing this you can almost understand why recruits like to do official visits.

There’s no question Simple Jobe has character issues. We’re recruiting him in spite of his massive character defects.

Rick has signed dozens of guys with character issues over the years. And he’s cut dozens of guys with character issues.

Jobe is a 5'11 178lb safety prospect. Not a physical freak, no game film. He's a tad overrated don't you think?

Bet he becomes 6’1, 200 lb physical freak of a safety, if he commits to us though; huh? Lol

Yeah, but if Jobe signs, it's a massive face palm to Bama. In either program, he will need to man up or get dropped, so better to beat Bama for him and see how it plays out. Gotta take flyers on local players like him unless he's irredeemable. And it looks like the coaches feel he's not at this point.

I've got no problem with trying to sign him. I have massive doubts that he'll succeed at the level people think he will. I, however, wouldn't save a spot for him, and I wouldn't believe a word he says. I'd make a spot for him by processing a guy who has taken up space for too long and has had ample time here if, by some miracle, he doesn't flake out.

My major problem with recruiting guys like this is if the staff quits recruiting other guys at the position because they buy what this sort of guy is telling them. Sign a guy like Samuel, and hope for the best with Simple Jobe.

Broke, he turns 20 in April. So before he steps foot on a college campus he will be 20, where most college kids start at 18.

So people saying he is 20 isn't some big leap. Stop white knighting for this dude.

Yep. I was still 17 when I enrolled in college (turned 18 in December) and I didn't have to skip a single grade to do it. Jobe obviously has done sort of learning disability.
