Just an interesting trend that took place as the previous coach’s recruits began vacating & the new guy’s recruits became starters. Maybe just a coincidence.

It should be noted that those Golden recruits weren’t playing anything like NFL players before Banda and Rumph came over. Jackson and Redwine were considered attrition candidates.

I agree w/ that, although Jenkins was a stud b4 he suffered that injury & rebounded nicely after the new regime came in.

We all know No’D & Williams absolutely sucked while putting our boys in some terrible situations w/ that patty cake defense. That doesn’t take away that Golden did recruit very well.

As time went on Diaz’s recruits, despite “better rankings”, looked worst every season. So this pass defense this yr doesn’t surprise me, b/c it was woeful last season & we’re essentially returning everyone back.

Also, I wouldn’t say Jaquan was an attrition candidate. Redwine, yes; but the move to S resurrected his whole career here, & for that, I will definitely credit Diaz, Banda, & Rumph.

Regardless, Steele & Addae can be shown walking papers b/c somewhere, there’s 3 MTSU WRs still gashing us for 80 yrds/reception.

He meant Mike Jackson & Redwine were attrition candidates I think. Not JJ.

Yeah, I misread that. Although, I wouldn’t even say Jackson was an attrition candidate. He didn’t start until 2017, & immediately had a great yr.

I kind of remember him being mentioned as a JAG myself. Oh well. We’d take any of them guys now in a heartbeat. They played hard as ****.

They did, & yes; he was mentioned as being a JAG in the limited time he saw the field. ****, he was looked at as a JAG after being drafted, too. In both scenarios, once he was given a chance to start, he proved invaluable. Honestly, I thought Ivey was going to be Mike Jax 2, based upon his frame & techniques. Smh.

D money, my man….do u realize we finished dead last in tackling under Diaz. And Ivey is just bad. Don’t you think the d back coaches were trying to fix all the bad habits from the Diaz sht show? I mean we did regularly give up long down and distance conversions under Manny, so we weren’t tight back there at all.

It’s called recency bias. This season was bad & we forget all of the shenanigans that took place from the past 3 yrs alone. It’s b/c 5-7 sticks out like a sore thumb, & I get it. My only point was let’s stop acting like this group of guys who have been recruited here weren’t the same group that was the worst tackling team in CFB, didn’t have 62 (the most points ever given up) scored on them, or wasn’t one of the worst pass defenses last yr.

Golden definitely had better recruits than Richt and Diaz. NFL numbers (and our rapid decline the past couple years) tell that story.

Richt surprised me. You'd think he'd be a better evaluator given his background. Maybe he was just checked out for understandable reasons.

Yeah, D; I had that same convo w/ another poster a couple yrs back. Hindsight being 20/20, but the 2017 - 2019 recruiting classes absolutely crippled this program. Poor evaluations + attrition = total disasters. Smh.
