Just my thoughts: This year's team, if it makes it, will be because of opportunistic plays. It will be wiser and more confident in 2nd year under this staff, but we still have a few marbles missing. Interestingly, it must play opportunistic (or smart) football whether it makes it or not, as this would build a solid foundation for next year, when more depth, maturity and momentum will be in place.

Go undefeated against FSU and Clemson this year and Miami is in the playoffs.

I think our ceiling is probably a top 10-13 team . We don't have enough depth at OL, DB, or RB to compete not to mention we'll have a green QB.

Sounds about right. 9-3 record during regular season with loses to fsu, va tech, and notre dame.

It's all about how the QB does. Our defense will be ready to compete.

I totally agree with him when it comes to our talent. However, Steele obviously forgot that Mark Richt does not win Big Games. Now, before all of you mark richt defenders type up your ridiculous responses, you all need to check the record. Results do not lie.

How's this for a response....GFY

Saying we dont have enough "depth at rb to compete" makes no since... Fold the season bc of our 3rd string rb question marks??

Not enough DB depth?:
Redwine
Bandy
Amari Carter
Delaney
Jaquan
Dean
Maley Young
Derrick Smith
Jackson (who apparently had a great spring)

meh:
Finley
Knowles
Mayes

What has anyone, besides Young and Jaquan, shown in the regular season? Depth is more than just how many players you have. Its the quality and or experience of players behind your starters.

Stop sleeping on Homer, he will have a lot to say, soon enough.
I'm not sleeping on Homer. I actually think he's more talented than Walton, but the fact that we're even questioning our #2 RB is one of the reasons why we're not ready to compete.

That sounds stupid. Who is penn states second string running back behind saquon Barkley? Are you questioning their season because of that?....

Who is lsu's second running back behind derriuce guice? Are you questioning their season because of that? Come on now....

Do we have Saquon Barkley or Derrius Guice on our team? If we did, I wouldn't worry about depth. Different situations as well but I'll play along though. Penn State's QBs were the 2nd and 3rd leading rushers on their team. Guice shared carries with Leonard Fournette and Darrell Williams; they also went 8-4 so I don't think they count.

We need another RB to compliment Walton period since he's not on that level.

Basically this is the year we serve notice. Next year we will destroy everything in our path. There's a reason Richt and staff are planting the seed in the minds of Norton and McIntosh to stay for their senior years. If one if those two comes back we will be set.

Walton had 1117 rushing yards while only receiving 48% of our carries , he will get even more now that yearby is gone(he gained 600 last year) and Edwards is gone too

Walton 209 yards 1117 14 tds 5.3 yards per Carry
Barkley 272 yards 1496 18 tds 5.5 yards per carry
Guice 183 yards 1387 15 tds 7.6 yards per carry

Out of those 3 guice easily is the best one to me. Walton and Barkley stats aren't that much different either. Guice didn't have fournette mug of last year he was hurt a lot with that ankle injury.

It's crazy that ppl can see our Canes being a SLEEPER TITLE CONTENDER but ppl that claim to be Cane fans can't!! **That's really crazy to me** BUT I really believe that our Canes can make it happen, it's a good thing that our QB situation is unknown and it's a newcomer NOW teams have to wonder!! Our fans are sleeping on what was real last year, and it was IF Miami had a QB that could make things happen with his legs to compliment Walton, our offense would've been much better.. PPL look at the OLine like if that was the problem (which they did need help) BUT most teams know Miami was a one dimensional team and they smothered the run game and made it rush on the OLine because they knew Kaaya was never going to pull the ball and run with it (that was the better teams) NOW as for teams that just didn't have the talent to compete WE ALL saw what happened to them when Kaaya got time to throw the ball.. SO WITH THAT SAID, this year our OLine will have a QB that can move and make defense honor him (every snap), our big uglies will be able to open better holes just off of that alone, it's no more load the box and smother the run (because of a non-mobile QB), ALL defenses will have to play honest and TRY to defend the RPO!!

And the defense Miami will present, is in a league of it own.. Our season will be on the hands of the offense, because if we can improve our offensive production and have an affective running game to compliment the passing game, Miami will be a very explosive offense to watch!! "TRUST THE PLUS"

I appreciate his outlook but we have a huge question mark at most important position.. Hope he is right tho..

QB might be the most important position, but the most important question mark at this point is the offensive line. If the line can somehow find a way to dominate, then we have the studs everywhere else on the team to hang with anyone in the country. The defense is potentially championship caliber. And the offense is filled with threatening skill players.

No way we will lose to all three rivals 2 years in a row.

If we lose at home to a puke bag notre dame squad in Richt's 2nd year with the defense we have then something is seriously wrong. I think that game my be a coming out party of sorts for our offense. I think we put it on the irish big. That game will great fun for the whole family. The Hurricane family that is.
