Peter Ariz on Fox Sports Florida Canes Preview

So Pete said he was expecting us to beat FSU then said a regular season record of 9-3? So he is expecting us to lose to ND, UNC and GT? Not buying it. If we beat FSU, which I expect us to do, the only game we may lose, IMO is ND. We are playing GT on October 1st. That's 12 days after Appalachian State game which is what is need to prepare for the triple option of GT. So, I feel good about our chance against GT.
UNC? no way they beat us at home with the momentum and confidence beating FSU will give us. Maybe I'm drinking Richt's brand Kool-aid but I say our record will be 11-1

We aren't at the point that we will win every game we should win. Not yet, we are way too young. Yes, I know we have Richt now and we will be better than we ever were under Golden. But still we can easily lose to UNC and VTech on a short week. GTech's Option will be a tough challenge for a defense with a group of Freshman LBs, as skilled as they may be. It's not doom and gloom or anthing, but just because we beat FSU at home won't mean we beat everyone else too.

I see your point. But we have a bye week before GT and from what I remember, even with inferior coaching staff we beat GT every time we had a bye week.
Then we have NC at home and the hope by then, our young LB's have gained enough experience and grew fast. VT after Beamer leaving doesn't strike me as big threat, not yet. I just feel our much improved coaching staff will help us beat very beatable division opponents. ND, away game? Another story.

VTech still has a good coach and it's a Thursday Night game on the road, how can you not see that as a threat? Especially after consecutively playing the best two ACC teams on our schedule (probably), and with ND the week after. If you don't think that's a setup game, I don't know what is.
Also if we lose to ND, we could easily lost to Pitt. They are going to be pretty good this year and playing them right after ND (what you think would be our first loss) would be another tough game. Luckily it's at home, but still.

...VTech still has a good coach and it's a Thursday Night game on the road, how can you not see that as a threat?...

That's right. Favored by 100 or underdogs by 100, the Canes squad needs to focus and win every snap of every game.

If they can accomplish that, a great W-L record will result.

Go Canes.

Listening to Mike & Mike this morning is a decent reflection of the National sports consensus. They didn't think that FSU would have a problem with us, most likely because it's Richt's first year, and Jimbo is returning 17 guys, including Cook.

Last year's game was awful, but if we can play like we did two years ago with THIS Staff, we win.
