Alex Mirabal has a type. For the second day in a row, the Canes landed a mammoth basketball convert from Orlando with the commitment of 6'6, 330-pound Jaden Wilkerson. The Edgewater product chose the Canes over Syracuse, Rutgers and UCF.

Like Demetrius Campbell, who committed last night, Wilkerson is a former basketball player who uses his natural size and athleticism to dominate smaller opponents. Wilkerson spent his first two years at Lake Nona and Lake Highland Prep, respectively, and will now step up in competition with his transfer to Edgewater.

Miami loves Wilkerson’s get off and ability to climb to the second level, along with his intelligence and frame.

Wilkerson is the 9th commitment in the class, joining QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TE Brock Schott, TE Luka Gilbert, OT Demetrius Campbell, OG TK Meux, LB Elijah Melendez, CB Tim Merritt.

Jaden played at Lake Nona HS in Orlando last year, the school has 4500 students, so that is not small school competition. He has Transferred to Edgewater HS which does have a loaded squad for the 2024 season.

Go Canes

I am pleasantly surprised by this!

Over the weekend, I was told Campbell had the green light to do it this week. Later on, I saw that Cuse was leading for Wilkerson which made sense (proximity to visit)

Both guys have physical gifts that can develop.
