big time commitment. props to mario and co for playing this perfectly and battling through the late visits with UGA and Oregon. big win for the coaches and their efforts here. also, pretty solid job of keeping the rouse that he was going to UGA.

For whatever it’s worth, 247 got beat up pretty good in the NFL Draft this year by on3.

Love our Miami 247 guys and am a fan of the national product but they have to do some soul searching on the rankings.

Interesting cause ivins doesn’t seem high on cantwell and on3 isn’t high on Pepe. they got him as a 3 star

What were the hit rates for each?

Is this an Ivins issue? Not to call out by name but I see Cooper Pategna as a level headed kind of guy.

I like their national product with Pate and Cover3, Marcelo etc. but it's also kind of wild how quickly they've gotten passed up by On3 when it comes to nailing prospects.

Who will be the established guards next year? Cooper gone. Isn’t Rodriguez gone? McCoy a sr right?

Why do you change my words?

I said "more established". Not "established". There are guys on the roster right now who will have one or two years of experience on Cantwell by the time he has a chance to get into a game. Guys like Kinsler and Alofaituli and Buchanan and Wilkerson and McCoy and Plazz.

Now, before you get all excited and claim "those guys aren't guards", I would point out that I have frequently spoken about how Cristobal/Mirabal recruit MOSTLY high school OTs and then figure out who to move to OG.

But that won't be happening with Cantwell. Just as it didn't happen with Mauigoa or Okunlola.

There are other smaller guys who will be more suited for OG. Just not Cantwell.

Again, the video game approach to roster-building and roster positions. "Here are the guys who have started, and next year they will be gone". Yeah? One or more of our OTs will be gone by then too.

Can't we just stop trying to project position changes for 16 year old recruits? Is that such a difficult impulse to restrain? And let the coaches observe how these guys respond in practices? And let the coaches earn their millions by making the right choices? And if all else fails, we hit the Portal for guards.

It's exhausting. "Let's move Jackson Cantwell to guard, because I can't envision a half-dozen guys who are currently on our roster being able to step up and replace the seniors when they graduate, I can instead only project a position change for the #1 recruit in the country."

Let's enjoy signing this amazing TACKLE. We can talk about GUARDS on another day.

In before the "can we move him to DT until he is ready for OT" crowd shows up, seeing as the OG crowd showed up first........never change CIS, never!
I was thinking TE with an outside shot at Striker, but I'm just spitballing. Figured we'd get him on the field early before he portals out to FSU

It’s a fair point but also, counterpoint: the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles
Been doing that since Andy Reid, though, so this isn't uncommon. Todd Herremans was supposed to be a table, but Andy moved him inside. Had an all-pro career.

****, even one of ours, 1st round draft pick Ereck Flowers, one he moved inside, saved his career.
Id you're big and don't have the feet for tackle, sometimes it's good to move em inside, they're strong and have better feet than most guards because of the experience playing tackle, so I agree.

Mad my Birds didn't keep Becton....

Sounds like OT3 or OT4?

OT4? The current OT4 is ranked #21 (on 247, not the Composite).

So you think 247 could move THREE OTs ahead of Cantwell, and STILL keep him in the Top 10?

That's wild. Nothing personal, but I don't think that will happen.

This was the on3 article. Ivins kind of confirmed it on the 105 podcast so I’m assuming it’s legit:

It appears that it was an even more lopsided win when considering that On3 didnt start til the 21 class and there were multiple kids that went in the 1st that were actually from the 20 class.
