Nijel Pack Returning for 5th Season

PG Nijel Pack announced he is returning for his final year at the University of Miami. The 6'0, 185-pound PG from Indianapolis averaged 13.3 ppg, 3.6 apg. and 2.6 rpg last season on 40/36/77 shooting splits.

The kid coming in, Bethea, is supposedly the goods at PG. If he is, it should free up Pack for open jumpers which he didnt have this year.

Don't know if L will go with Bethea as the starting point or if he is still looking for a PG in the portal.
They’re still looking at PG in the portal which tells me they want someone to come off the bench and play 20+ min

Explains why Benz said adios. Pack battled through a ton of injuries this year--ankles, knees. Is Bethea really going to play the point?

I gotta say I think the point guard thing is a little overblown. I think L has always wanted teams with just a bunch of creators, we don’t just spam high PnR with one guy like a lot of teams. That F4 team didn’t have a guy that I would really call a traditional point guard, but we got Wong and Pack in DHO action, let Miller initiate from all over the place, put Omier at the top of the key and let him run things, all that. Yes we would go to Wong in the PnR game when things were bogged down, but we still didn’t have a traditional “point guard”. Problem with this year’s team was putting the ball in Pack’s hands was often the only thing that would start up any offense.

I don’t know how comfortable Bethea will be day 1 executing that at the collegiate level, and having that as a desperation option is great, which is why I’d still like to see the Dinkins kid from Canisius on the team.

Based on this point wooga and George need to declare. We can’t have Pack, wooga, and George out there again. It was atrocious and will not improve next year unless they all take MAJOR jumps off the bounce

I’m pretty indifferent to both of them coming back.

Wooga just straight up can’t dribble. I don’t think that’s changing at this point. And while on paper he has the tools to be a really good defender, I don’t know that he’s able to stay connected off ball as well as you have to with the way the game is played now.

Kyshawn is tough. He’s so raw, and it shouldn’t be understated how difficult it can be to adjust to growing something like 8 inches over the past year or whatever. I would rather him come back, but I also think his best position long term is as a stretch 4 if he can add mass to his frame, I don’t see the athleticism for a 3.

Totally agree on all points

I'm probably one of the few that was okay if Pack stayed or left. This year it became painfully obvious that 1) he wasn't as good at the 1 without a strong 2 like Wong, and 2) he's too streaky and small to be a great 2.

His 3pt and FG % both slipped this year versus last. Some of that was injuries, some of that was not being as open w/o Wong to play off of.

He's got a full offseason to 1) get healthy, 2) try to improve the parts of his game that needs it. I think he's about maxxed out as far as his skill set goes, but I'd love for him to prove me wrong.

went back and watched Pack's highlights of last years tournament run, and i'm glad he's coming back.

The truth is he is not a true PG. he needs to be the secondary ball handler. but the kid can play.

Pack is a really good college guard.

He was hurt majority of the season. He tried to play through, not sure how many of you all have tried to play bball with bad knees.

Go back and watch how good Pack was in key moments in Miami tournament run to see how valuable he can be in right situation.
