Nick Saban Says Miami Will Be One of the Most Dangerous Teams if They Make the Playoffs
Nick Saban believes the Miami Hurricanes could be one of the toughest teams in the country if they make the playoffs this season.
Saban spoke on the annual College Gameday show this morning, where the Hurricanes’ game against the Pittsburgh Panthers came up early in the segment. Miami would go on to win that game 38-7. During the discussion, Saban shared his thoughts on the Hurricanes:
"If Miami finds their way into the Playoffs, they will be one of the most dangerous teams in the Playoffs—forget about the ACC. Carson Beck, the offensive line, the skill guys they have, the defense they have… I don’t want to say they underachieved by losing two games, but if they get in this Playoff, they're going to be the most dangerous team that anybody has to play because of the talent level."
Saban’s praise comes as Miami continues to make a strong push for a spot in the Playoffs and even the ACC Championship game.
The Hurricanes finished their season at 10-2, with Mario Cristobal going 20-4 over the last two regular seasons. But this team feels different from last year. The offense isn’t quite as explosive as last season, but with the defensive talent this team has, they’re stronger overall. Last season, Miami missed out on the Playoffs, and that experience seems to have fueled this year’s team. Now, Miami has a solid offense and a GREAT defense.
This season, Miami has also beat big time teams like Notre Dame and Pittsburgh, proving they can take on big games and compete at the highest level, just like in the Playoffs. With wins against these teams and a big time defense, the Hurricanes are showing they deserve to be talked about for the Playoffs.
The issue is that Miami has lost two games in ACC play, losing to Louisville and SMU, so they will need some luck to make it to the ACC Championship and try for an automatic bid. Let's see how everything turns out today.
