If there was true competition on the O-Line last year, He would've been buried on the depth chart then. No way in **** Gall wasn't a better C than Him last Spring...ditto with Darling over McDermott at LT. Horrible evaluation & personnel placement by Searles. But good luck to em' in His future endeavors.

This is a big indictment of Searels because it was clear that Darling at LT, McDermott at LG, Linder at C clearly wasn't working. And yet he stuck with them until people started getting injured.

Linder was UM's starting center for the 2015 season and for most part of last year before a shoulder injury ended his season.

Slight correction in the interest of journalistic accuracy: Jaron Jones ended his season and should have ended his career. I haven't seen one man physically dominate another that egregiously since my last Grinder date.

Linda should have done the honorable thing and left the game of football after that. He disgraced the game that day. When Al Gall is such a massive improvement over you, then you know football isn't for you.

Shame on UM if we let this quitter hang around and glom another year of education and further pollute the minds of whoever he comes in contact with.

Is this a sign for how well we're recruiting at the position?

I could've sworn he quit before we played UNC last season.

Heres why this is a puss move.. Kehoe gave this kid a ship because of the make up of the kid and his family.. we all were ok with it.. didnt have many major offers.. and now hes going to diss the program (4 weeks until game day) after we gave him a life line... **** that

the problem with the last staph, they gave **** out that was not earned. This makes how many Goldie era ships that did not pan out?

It really can't be emphasized enough the entire transformation the roster is/has undergone since CMR took over. It's going to a whole new level.

I don't think so. Everyone from Searels to Pete to other people who get to watch practice currently had Linder slated as our 6th guy. Just yesterday, I asked who was our 7th and Gaynor was supposedly behind Linder.

This is a crap move by Linder.

Much Respect only because of his brother, otherwise, his career is already over if he is choosing to transfer for a lesser team...

If I was asked to choose one OL who I would've wanted gone it would have been Jones, Mahoney, Milo. At least with Linder you could throw him out there and hold your breath. None of our backups have played a meaningful snap.

Seems like he refused to swallow his pride. To be fair, it's quite the pill to swallow when a younger kid comes in and takes your job.

It's not like he has NFL potential. Why would he leave for more playing time? Selfish move especially considering his family background.

The positive thing is it continues to root out entitlement mentality. Doesn't change that it's a crap move. Guess he thinks he has pro potential.

This is for everyone who is worried because f***ing NICK LINDER is quitting:

I remember Xiang Li's dad, after finding out Jeff Dahmer ate his son, saying, "Much respect to Jeff Dahmer because his brother Dave was a good guy."

I was initially very happy when I read the news and I think you just pointed out why. It absolutely sucks for depth, but I think it has very clear implications for the direction of this program. It's evidence that we're continuing to snuff out entitlement mentality and, even though you might not agree, it shows the direction of recruiting.

Linder was almost an immediate starter for us. Fast forward a few short years and a younger kid is starting over him and a true freshman in Gaynor is nipping at his heels. Linder is the type of player that would presumably peak during his final season (due to his physical limitations). We're at his final season and he can't crack the top 5.

Overall I'm pleased with his exit.
