I really liked TVD’s tape. Just looked like he was playing football in the park. He can sling it and is really athletic. He’s a big kid. Reminds me of Kelly in size and athletics.

I can see the Jacobs comparison.

I’m not saying that he’s him and they do certain things differently, but Knighton’s running gait has always reminded me of Percy Harvin. Twitchy athlete that plays bigger than what you expect for his size, and can bury his shoulder effectively into defenders with his natural forward lean.

I think he'll be bigger than 210. I expect Chaney to be 220+ by the time he leaves here. Wouldn't surprise me if he leaves here on the high side of 5' 11" or even 6' and 225.
Good chance, when he arrived at Miami this January he was 5’11 210. His dad is 6’4 himself so he might not even be done growing really

That would be awesome if half those pan out that way

Just realized I put Malcom Lee instead of Marqise Lee for Keyshawn Smith, my bad had to edit it lol.

@DMoney really love the Marlon Davidson comp for Roberts.

They both have similar styles & really quick feet for big DLineman.

I know we'll be moving Roberts to DT, but I still think he can play Strong Side DE as an edge setter against the run. In our 4-2-5/4-3 Defense he's definitely more of an interior 3-tech, but in a 3-4 he would be a 5-tech DE no doubt.

The benefits of having a versatile kid like him is on stunt Blitzes he'll be just as effective rushing the OT from the C-gap as he would be vs a Guard in the A-gap.

Michael Redding III --> Josh Doctson

This one, to me, is so on the nose I can't shake it.

I think Knighton is gonna light it up his film stands out more to me than Chaney! With the offence we're gonna be running to I think that's another advantage for Knighton. Chaney looks like a solid kid but Knighton looks like a star. Chaney gets alot of love on here and I hope they both ball out. I'm just loving Knighton dudes gonna be a game changer! That Miami Speed!

The unintentional comedy of these "style" comparisons are instant classics every year. I get the excitement, I get caught up in it every year too, but the comparisons rarely age well.

My favorites from the past include:

Graig Cooper - Reggie Bush
Kylan Robinson - Eric ****erson
Trayone Gray - Darren McFadden
Joe Yearby - Warrick Dunn/Gio Bernard
Mark Walton - Knowshon Moreno
Cam Harris - Rashaad Penny

Legit spit out my coffee. That's funny.

Usually if you’re trying to compare a style of play you want to compare it to someone the general public has seen and can recognize. It doesn’t mean the player will be as good as the one you’re comparing him to. When D Money says TVD compares to Matt Ryan, he doesn’t mean TVD is as good as Ryan or he’ll be a top draft choice and long time pro. He’s comparing physical and athletic traits.

Don’t know who compared Cooper to Bush, but the difference these days is the prevalence of verified testing numbers.

So at least physically, you are comparing apples to apples with objective evidence.

I get that, but look at the comparisons I listed. You have to squint pretty hard to see those comparisons now - even if it's just "style".

When Yearby came is I thought his style and athleticism was similar to Graig Cooper, who all Canes fans were familiar with and people called that insulting to Yearby. I'm just like, ok.....proceed with your Gio Bernard/Warrick Dunn comparisons.

When Cooper came in as a 5 Star, the buzz from Greentree was Reggie Bush. Just google "graig cooper reggie bush" and you'll get articles making that comparison.

I remember Bakas comparing Kevin Grooms to Frank Gore. I don't even want to mention Tyrone Moss.

I get finding the best player in that athletic range mold and making that comparison - I just think there's plenty in that mold/range that are also more comparable talent wise too. I feel like that's me being realistic, but realize it just comes off as negative.

I'm just saying for both recruiting classes & draft classes - it's the time for hope, but the comparisons usually end up being pretty funny down the line.
