What's the reason behind this thought? Just don't know enough about them myself.

Couch is 150-155pds. He strikes...but thats against high school players. Seeing him in person dont know how much weight he actually can put on. He has good feet and cover skills though...but he is really really slight. I cant remember the last guy his size to be productive here. Undersize guys like Bandy/Young are built as **** even coming in. Skinny guy slike DVD..are legit 6'1 + with worldly speed. Thats just my positioning on Couch. Will love to see how he performs in the all american game. He is somewhat battle tested though and goes against about 3-4 div 1 wrs every day in practice. He also has a loooong wingspan hat is a plus for me

That's so funny.

I was literally looking at their roster and website 2 days ago to see how their team was doing and saw his name (because I was looking for players from Florida). A couple of other interesting things for those of you who watched "LAST CHANCE U" - Malik Henry is back - and thru 3 games he is the 4th or 5th quarterback on the depth chart. Another FSU head case QB.

Also Jermaine Johnson - from Eden Prairie, MN - which is where I live - is the nations top ranked juco DE (I believe) (committed to Georgia). They are one of only a couple football powerhouses up here. Eden Prairie is constantly in the mix for national rankings every year. Granted they are no Florida school - but they run a really good program and their head coach was in the mix for the Gopher's job.
The nations best JUCO DE is Chester Graves who I would love to add. Definitely the JUCO player that stands out to me.

Is he that talented? I watched that series and came away very unimpressed.
That kind of attitude i would notake.....he looks zoned out like hes on something or has mental problems. If i was on another team playing vs him i probably would of killed him. If Jimbo got rid of (who protected Winston crazy ***) him u know its bad.

I got Brownlee a good bit over Couch and Good. Im not that high on Couch honestly. Has Boom or bust potential though. This is why i would take a kid like this. We wouldnt have to really depend on those 3 at all next year.
my concern with couch is putting on good weight. his tape is impressive to me. hes not just a head hunter, he stays with his wr step by step

If I were his coach I would've killed him. Kid has 0 discipline and wasn't very good at the JUCO level.

If you have a HC who knows how to manage a roster; JUCOs are just another tool in the toolbox for adding talent.

It comes down to the evaluations.

Butch did very well with JUCOs.

Erickson brought in Cortez Kennedy and a WR from Ohio who was solid here - he may have led the team in yards one year.

Richt hasn't really brought in anyone - only Dean at CB, I think.

So it really isn't known how well Richt can do to add value to the roster with JUCOs.

You have to bring in the right players.

I hate JUCOS

If Dude left Whisky because he was afraid of some competition then what is he going to do when he gets here? He can't play until next year when our Freshmen will have as much game experience as he currently does. Thanks but no thanks.

Class is gonna be short on Dade kids...May as well add some Dade depth and let him compete.

SEC teams use JUCOs all the time. OP just noted that Georgia took a JUCO DE. Obviously, if we're stacked 3 deep and have locked down South Florida, we don't need JUCOs or GTs. Right now, that's not the case. Miss on guys like Campbell and Stevenson, you need to go get replacement talent wherever the source.

Pass... his feelings are going to be hurt when he comes to Miami and is 2nd or 3rd string on the depth chart. Not going to beat out Bandy, Blades, Ivey, or Frierson next year. And if we get Dent or Tyrique or both... that’s a wrap.

Would be a great pickup and allow us to move Frierson to FS which I think is his best position moving forward.

CB Williams Ivey Couch
CB Bandy Blades Brownlee
FS Hall Frierson
SS Carter K Smith

Pretty good depth and adding Dent would be awesome.
Agree Gil should not be at corner there wasting him there......thats a corch move. He has to pay the price cause they cant close

Because frierson doesn't have the hips you like in a corner. And he played safety his jr year and was good at it. He was able to roam and make plays. He is more of a playmaker than he is just a pure cover guy.
Thats my gripe his hips arent good for corner at all imo

Maybe he will prove us wrong but im confident in saying Gil should be a S

It has nothing to do with not closing. He wanted to play cb and they are giving him a chance. Maybe in the spring they can convince him the best way to get on the field is at safety.

Isn't that where Chuck Foreman's son, Jay, played? He ended up starting at LB for a national championship Nebraska team, as I recall. I wish UM would have recruited him, a legacy son of an all-time UM great.

We've had several from Cretin-Durham, Steve Walsh and his brother. Didn't we get that big OT, the one who originally went to USC, from Minneapolis? Seantrel Henderson, that's it.

The WR was Wesley Carroll from Cleveland.

Eddie Brown was a Juco. Geoff Torretta, who was a valuable backup to Testaverde, was a Juco. (,Gino's brother). Many many others. Still you want to limit reliance on Jucos and build through within.

Others: Richard Newbill, starting LB in '89; Reggie Sutton; McKinney,

Yeah those 3 teams churn out division 1 players.

Cretin specifically had Seantrel Henderson, Scott Walsh (both Canes) as well as Joe Mauer and Chris Weinke (both Florida State - although Mauer went straight baseball), Matt Birk. Michael Floyd, Paul Molitor, Ryan McDonagh (Captain of the NY Rangers) and of course George "Bugs" Moran (Prohibition Mafia Member).
Not Scott--Steve and his brother Chris.
