Bishop Gorman is the IMG of the West Coast. We have a legit shot here. It's in Nevada, so we don't have to worry about SC crowding in this school. Honestly, we should recruit Gorman more. They are West Coast mercenaries and have no issues with bouncing across town if the love is shown. Not a lot of Street Agents out that way, either. You get the family on board and 9/10 you get the recruit.
I'll be in Las Vegas in July if anyone has any bags that need to be dropped off!

hahaha

Why are more national kids more bullish on Miami's trajectory than local kids? Boggles the mind.

Because the local kids get purchased, and sold by their coaches. They use the "Miami is my lifelong dream" line to get a bigger bag, nothing more. They don't think about the future, but rather the here and now. It's sad, really.

This kid is saying all the right things, and looks like he has a good head on his shoulders. He's looking down the road, not a bag tomorrow.

I think most people miss out on the reality of our situation. Most of our real fan base is transplants therefore they have no loyalty. As a person from Miami through & through the options are limited. It's a strict (talking about regular academic students standards)academic school that's quite expensive even if you get help. We're even harder on locals when it comes to admissions. More opportunities are gave to foreign students etc. When that's the reality of the situation you limit your local loyalties from people especially when we haven't been winning.Miami is a town that thrives on what's hot at the moment. All those things combined mean parents or more likely a support base is gonna pressure that kid to go away. Fsu for instance is winning is relatively local & it & Floriduh are where are locals go because it's easy to get admitted there. I wish it was as simple as we're home town & that's that but you gotta look at the reality of the situation.

"Coach Hartley and I have a great relationship. Out of all the schools recruiting me, I have the best relationship with him and he's the only coach in contact with my mom," he added.

...there goes mom's phone...

I think South Florida's become a filthy street agent infested and competitive cesspool on an unprecedented level, unrivaled anywhere. I think the characters and personalities down there are driving the things we are seeing as Canes fans who follow recruiting closely with every major duffel bag school in our backyard big time. I think national kids can step outside the box we've been in locally a lot easier. This is just my theory. That's all.

Wish we as south Florida locals could do something about the bag men.

Anybody got the Ivins article just posted about coaches in Vegas today? Richt mustve been grinding splitting time between Vegas and ESL.

Lol. We just took a top 16 team to the woodshed with 5 freshman starters.on defense and improved from almost dead to top 15 in almost every category. Also ended the season on a nice streak. CMR and staff came In and won with little depth.

Kids are flat out being bought. Sofla is as corrupt as it's ever been. Winning only does so much. Recruiting strategy needs to be adjusted. Juedy starts day one. Any top.DB in sofla starts day one. Any stud OL starts day one. But only we see this right? People are well aware of whats going on.

This long exhaustive paragraph has a lot of merit behind it. I don't live in Miami, but I usually vacation there once a year. It always ****es me off seeing the amount of Gaytor and Semenhole apparel sold at every store. I live in Pennsylvania. We don't have anything on the shelves up here other than Pedo State. It's a cult, just as it is in many other states (Alabama).

The advantage we do have at Miami is local talent (not always loyal) and NFL teams that will almost always give a Hurricane an opportunity to make their roster. We need to make the street agents, handlers, and parents understand that Miami is the place to make that NFL bread. Richt's emphasis on speed will get skill position players drafted. TFL will get D-lineman drafted.
Make Miami the IMG or Bishop Gorman of college football and the kids will come. How better to recruit a Bishop Gorman kid than to give him the best opportunity for success at the next level. I'm assuming that's why he is there in the first place.

Perfectly written. It's so messed up in South Florida when you can't get those kids to fill obvious opportunities, it's time to go to places for talented kids who will.

Yup.

And it's not even an athlete thing. Lifelong canes fans grow up and then as students attend UF and FSU and switch allegiances like nothing. While that means they were never truly fans to begin with, they do support their team at a superficial level and bring their gator or nole gear down with them and before you know it Miami has 3 different school gears everywhere in the city.

If the tradeoff for a cult like following is having an actual city and culture, I'll take it. And as soon as we start winning again, the buzz from the team will take over the city and be a huge incentive for recruits in Miami and all over the nation as well.
