Nation's #2 2018 TE Jordan talks Miami

As Miami is potentially looking to add a second tight end to their 2017 recruiting class, coach Todd Hartley is already working on dipping into West Coast powerhouse Bishop Gorman for the 2018 cycle.

Brevin Jordan is the #2-ranked TE in the 247sports composite rankings for next year's class, and the Miami Hurricanes are heavily recruiting him.

"I love Miami, theyr'e Tight End U and they send big, athletic tight ends like me to the league," Jordan said. "I'm fine going across the country. I'll move to Africa if it will get me to the league."

Canes TE coach Todd Hartley is trying to secure what would be his biggest pick-up at Miami yet.

"Coach Hartley and I have a great relationship. Out of all the schools recruiting me, I have the best relationship with him and he's the only coach in contact with my mom," he added.

Jordan said that most of his family has warmed up to the idea of him possibly playing on the East Coast for college, but it's important that the Miami coaches continue to build that relationship with Jordan's mother, as he explains.

"My family is all for it -- my brothers want me to move away from the West Coast and play ACC, SEC, OR BIG 10 football. My mom wants me to stay West Coast though because she's a sensitive mom," Jordan said.

"I'm a big athletic TE I can do it all. Flex me out, put me at wide receiver, everything. I'm 6'3", 240 running a 4.68 40. I'm different."

One area that could certainly work in Miami's favor in this instance is that Jordan really seems to have perspective as to the Hurricanes' lineage of professional tight ends.

"Their history is pretty cool. I mean, look at the tradition of TEs going to the NFL -- I can definitely see myself being part of that tradition," Jordan said.

"I'm making sure I'm playing in a pro-style offense where the TE is utilized heavily and gets the ball."

"I'm taking my time with the recruiting process. I don't have to commit early until I know the 100% right decision. I keep my mind off of the process and I'm focused on leading my team to a 4-peat National Championship."

Seriously why do the West Coast kids gave more sense and pride for what UM is about then local kids? This kid sees that he can be great here and seems to have a good head on his shoulder

No doubt. I'm real impressed by what he's saying. He basically told FSU and schools like them to kick rocks. He was even saying he can be used in a multitude of ways. Real mature and smart kid it seems.

Bc local recruits are entitled little Dbags they don't get an offer well F Miami if they get the offer it's too late or the offer is early and it's just nice to have and go elsewhere you can't win with them only the real 305 SF kids will come everyone else is just a fraud. I live in jersey and the kids here go else where too but for different reasons bc our program sucks there is so much talent in nj for all sports but they go else where bc we have no programs worth a **** if we did they would stay and it would be a great school and compete just wish Miami kids would do the same

We should be able to have tight end recruits beg to come here but some of these kids make idiotic choices man like its mind boggling how a school with arguably 2 of the 4 best tes in the league, have our history at the position and arguably the best receiving te in this draft class and kids say no

Yup could not agree more... proof is in the pudding we put anyone who is athletic at the TE position in the league... we've had all of our starting TEs go into the league even the richard Gordans of the world...

Because there are bagmen literally feeding and housing the "handlers" of these local guys. They know where their bread gets the thickest coating of that special Plugra butter. So they've spent quite a few years poisoning local kids on UM. It's been a long propaganda smear campaign by these hucksters to get those SEC, FSU and Big 10 bags.

or Tennessee as they seem to offer **** near everyone we're on . If someone has a Miami offer and not a Tennessee offer well U can better believe that's their next .

Bishop Gorman is the IMG of the West Coast. We have a legit shot here. It's in Nevada, so we don't have to worry about SC crowding in this school. Honestly, we should recruit Gorman more. They are West Coast mercenaries and have no issues with bouncing across town if the love is shown. Not a lot of Street Agents out that way, either. You get the family on board and 9/10 you get the recruit.

I'll be in Las Vegas in July if anyone has any bags that need to be dropped off!

Notre Dame also has a very good history with producing TE's.

Tyler Eifert, Anthony Fasano, and Kyle Rudolph. And they got another two that don't really get PT in Ben Koyack and Troy Niklas.

They certainly haven't done bad. Obviously nobody can compete with Jimmy Graham, Greg Olsen, Clive Walford, Erik Swoope, Asante Cleveland, and now David Njoku currently in the league.

Also, this kid just seemed intelligent, or at least well spoken. And Notre Dame is a good school. I'm sure as soon as Notre Dame offers, they will immediately be in his top 5.
