University of Miami redshirt senior RB Jimmy Murphy was among the 83 student-athletes nominated from Division 1 (FBS) schools from across the country for the 2019 Burlsworth Trophy.

The Burlsworth Trophy is given to the most outstanding football player in American who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field. Each nominee must have begun his first season of participation with FBS (D1) football program without financial aid of any kind from his university's athletic department.

The trophy, in its tenth year, is named in honor of Brandon Burlsworth, former University of Arkansas walk-on and All-American offensive lineman.

Murphy, who was named one of four permanent team captains for 2018, has been among Miami's standout players on special teams over the last two seasons after arriving in 2017. Selflessly making a position switch this past offseason from safety to running back, Murphy scored the first rushing touchdown of his career in a win over Bethune-Cookman on Sept. 15.

He has 5 carries for 18 yards and a TD, along with 7 special teams tackles in his final year.

LOVE Jimmy Murphy! He is the poster child for what a "TRUE" Cane is all about!! I don't know if he will win the award or not, but I know that he gives 1000% to the Canes every time that he goes out on the field. The University of Miami should establish an award in his name, once he finishes career at The U. Go Jimmy! And forever, Go Canes!!!

I like Jimmy Murphy, but LOL. I am sure there are far better walk ons...Probably some that have become stars!

You forgot to mention his 118 punts downed inside the 10.
