To ignore our recruiting misses is just being a disingenuous homer. Look no further than our LBs and how we attack the portal. We didn't remake our entire secondary this year and bring in blay etc because we had been killing recruiting and evaluating at those spots...

The portal and HS recruiting are essentially the same thing now. What’s the functional difference between getting a true freshman DE out of the portal who has flashed 5 star ability and getting a 5 star DE out of HS? It might be an issue if you are replacing a drafted player with a 1 yr rental but if you bring in a player with 4 yrs of eligibility, what’s the downside?

So, my theory on why his family looked so upset. Even in this wild day and age, there are still family’s that teach their kids that their word is their bond and a reflection on their entire family.

If Jacobs committed to Mario on Saturday and then pulled this crap right before they went on air, it would explain why they looked so angry. It reflects poorly on the family, and specially on the young man’s dad, who most likely taught him better than that.

Tighten up… we stole one 5 star from OSU before in Justin Scott.

By his comments he ain’t shutting it down and probably never was just posturing for more money later.

Here we are two days from the biggest game we’ve played in God knows how long, and some of you are so addicted to being negative that you can’t help yourselves.

One single commit doesn’t swing our way, who by the way hasn’t signed anywhere yet, and we’re a year away from seeing how this class actually turns out.

You people need mental health counseling.
We have proof of concept now. If Messidor and Bain and getting coached by Jason Taylor plus more money than anyone else offered isn’t enough for him then **** him honestly, spend that money on a couple of portal kids.

Don’t get me wrong, I wish we were the pick but some people just aren’t coming here. Who knows - it could be the conference, it could be that he likes Columbus or Day better than Miami and Mario…

I’m sure they’ll continue recruiting him but just spend it on a portal guy or two with 2-3 years left who’s already shown some ability in college.

... Yeah that kinda makes it worse lol.

Look I've always said keep recruiting guys and try to flip them. We saw it just work with Stancil. Unfortunately didn't work with Tank Jones or another top EDGE. But there is also a difference here and when guys have regularly scheduled commitments and are making a tough choice and just simply choose a different team. Yeah you keep recruiting them.

But I'd say it is a BIG ******* DIFFERENCE between that and a guy silently committing to the staff and apparently agreeing to a deal, MOVING UP his commitment date - before the season even ends a full year before his NSD - to 2 days before our CFP games and biggest game since 2002 national championships where we lost to that same team, and he goes and picks THAT TEAM on live tv over us.

AND to top it all off your out their laughing about it and you IMMEDIATELY give the statement of im still fully open and not shutting it down at all and will probable visit Miami... Okay then why the **** pull this move to try to embarrass us right before the cfp game against that team? I mean that's OBVIOUSLY what this was. Like he moved up his commitment just to decide 10mins before that he was going to Ohio St? Lmao. No ******* way, **** that. Move on.

We haven't got played like this in a long time. This was Josh Jobe level disrespect. This young dude behavior is the exact thing Mario has destroyed. That behavior is that it is ok to disrespect and troll the U. It had gotten so regular and out of hand with Diaz and Golden that we got used to it. Richt was a short break.

I wouldn't be surprised if Mario doesn't let this guy visit at all. His actions as you just laid out were totally intentional and unnecessarily done in a way to cause maximum harm and embarrassment to our program at a time where our prestige as a Blue Blood is just starting to return.

I agree with this mostly. I don’t know that they’ll move on because of the talent level but we’ve done so well with DL, with Jason Taylor and Lewis - we can buy a couple of really good players in the portal with a couple years left with this type of money. I actually think some of these kids are nuts walking away from Miami when we’re showing what we’ve shown in the trenches.

Exactly. Why let him come and recruit for the Buckeyes after dissing the Canes? His visit is cancelled. If he wants to come down here, he can use his OSU money to buy a Delta ticket and hotel room like everyone else. He needs to be removed from the board. It isnt even really personal, just that he already made his decision.

I agree with your sentiments. That said, we’re not a Blue Blood. I’ll support Mario on this one, whichever way he decides to go.

Logged in and saw that Jacobs committed elsewhere. That’s his decision—no issue with that. I respect his right to choose what’s best for him.

What I don’t respect is how he handled it. From what I understand, he was disrespectful in the way he made the decision public. That part was a choice too, and it reflects poorly on him, his family, and the people advising him. I don’t respect that behavior.

Our blood is red enough we don’t need to beg for the girl back that already cheated on you and broke your heart. That would be weak. Im sure for 2 million a year, someone good will want to play D End.

Whatever Mario decides I’m good with. He knows what transpired. If he’s done with Jacobs I’m good. If he wants to continue recruiting Jacobs, likewise, I’m good. We’ve got money to pay guys in the portal as well.

No, the kid was offered a bag right before the end of it? Who would've seen that coming?

Sarcasm aside, I'm telling you... people need to stop following recruiting so much.

If Mario takes it personal so be it move on but he’s proven to not back off… again see Justin Scott.

I get it a lot of butt going on but crooting ain’t for the weak and this isn’t the first or last time we will be on the Bad side of this. **** we stole 5 star Lowe from local USCw when reporters were still pushing articles about how solid he was.

The sole thing I love seeing:

Forget pops. Look at the entire family in the interview. The guy on the left, prob his brother, is glad he didn't do it and probably will enjoy his brother getting smacked, mom is just staring in the distance hoping its over soon and his father is eyeing his son thinking about what kind of belt to use.

It's funny. That's not even an ego thing or anything, everyone is shocked and ****ed at what that kid has done. Even the big Ohio State accounts don't believe he'll stick. If that kid got played by a fake NIL offer, don't recruit him. Don't need dumbassery on a football team.

I agree. Unless he decides to flip here. Then he’s a good kid with a solid head on his shoulders.

Nah. I will never root for jit. He is Rashada level of untouchable to me now. Not wishing illness or injury on anyone. But if he ends up a worse Justin Flowe I will be very pleased.

Tbqh, I don't care. I've been on a long record asking people to stop entertaining this BS. It's modern-day free agency with shady contracts, no unions, handlers posing as agents, asking for all sorts of luxury ***** and kids and their families eventually giving away all selfrespect that they had because of some money.

This whole drama surrounding it only pushed people to further engage. And it's ******* sad to see.
