Miami to visit Briggs today before his OV

I think it’s fair to say he is the #1 Target on Miami’s board.

That would be Tyson

Tyson Campbell is clearly the No1 recruit left on the board but are you still confident we land him?

Not Pete but he's said the staff feels good about Campbell

I hope so because he is an extremely important piece in this class. Our DB class is very good as is but adding Campbell would make it special. Also I want to see our staff prove they can close on an elite recruit like Campbell who has been open in his recruitment. I fully realize that Richt and staff have done an excellent job thus far but to me Campbell represents the type of elite south Florida prospect that we have been losing to the Alabamas, FSUs, and Ohio Taints of the world. Time to change that and serve notice that we will protect our backyard.

Briggs
Nesta

Two of top 4 DT's in FL

Rousseau and chatfield, two highly touted and productive 4* DE's

Maybe Gerald, the #1 SDE juco recruit in the country

If we get them all,

Best DL class since..?

Gerald ain't coming if we can land Chatfield, Chatman, Briggs, and either Carson, Thompson, or Coburn.

Any update on his visit? Lot of info for Chat but nothing coming out of Briggs so far.

Honestly I think yall are crazy if you really think Garvin and Joe Jackson aren't going to both be getting heavy PT at the same time. Obviously Joe Jackson is rarely leaving the field (he actually got more snaps than Chad Thomas did this yr), but Garvin will be playing opposite DE of him. Joe Jackson is going to be our starting SDE, and Garvin will be our starting WDE.

SDE: Joe Jackson > Demetrius Jackson
WDE: Jon Garvin > Scott Patchan > Gregory Rousseau

3tDT: Gerald Willis > Pat Bethel
1tDT: Jon Ford > Nesta Silvera > Tyreic Martin

Out of our targets, we are only targeting 2 TRUE DTs - Michael Thompson and Keondre Coburn. But while a complete longshot imo, if we were able to add Thompson and Coburn to Nesta at DT, we honestly would have the best DT class in the nation. I really hope we can finish with one of them at least, to add with Nesta. You know DT is getting most of the attention, but we are actually in just as bad of a place depth wise at DE as we are at DT.

After those two, Andrew Chatfield is definitely a weakside DE, which isn't as big of a need as SDE as you can tell from the depth chart I showed above (demetrius graduates, and joe jackson likely declare early), because we have Garvin and Rousseau. But we definitely neeed another in this class, and Thats Chatfields spot all the way.

The rest of the DL recruits we are targeting are all in that SDE/Potential future DT mold. Dennis Briggs, Jamarcus Chatman, Daniel Carson, and Dorian Gerald. Imo, Gerald is only a guy we should target if we miss out on the guys ahead. I only see us getting 2 of these 4, and it appears Briggs and Chatman are those 2 for us.

So I think this class will be Nesta Silvera, Gregory Rousseau, Andrew Chatfield, Dennis Briggs, Jamarcus Chatman, and HOPEFULLY one of Coburn/Thompson. Basically the only question imo is Coburn and Thompson. I think the other 3 additions are >80% chance.

I know TC is an important player for the future but there's no way he's more important then a DT at this point. We just lost 3 starters and a future starter this month alone we need D linemen bad we need to be able to control the line of scrimmage if we want to be a playoff/national championship team.

TC's different because that kid's likely in the starting 2-deep immediately. He's also a blue chip kid where Miami needs to set the tone. DTs are traditionally more important. But you still need corners. If your corners suck, having a dominant D-line is nullified because QBs can get the ball out quicker. Campbell is without a doubt the most important kid left unsigned (sans Silvera) this cycle for the Canes.

D.jack is starting. Garvin needs to get stronger and get better vs the run. Garvin will play a lot and especially on 3rd downs when d.jack kicks inside and garvin and joe are comming off the edge.

He’s the most important target left period. You can send a message to the football community landing a kid like that period. People worried about the dts too much, we will be more than fine. Tyson is a must get period

If we land Silvera, Briggs, Chatman then I agree we don't have to worry about DTs much. But yes, TC's the most important kid left this cycle.

i got a feeling that depth chart will change on Nesta's first day of school here, when he walks up to Ford in the cafeteria and literately takes his lunch and eats it

This. Anybody who thinks DJ aint starting next year if he comes back fully healthy is crazy. You cant put a price tag on his ability to not only rush the passer BUT hold up against the run and set the edge AND kick inside at DT on 3rd downs...Garvin will get starters minutes.

You know this how? Gerald would be coming in as an SDE.
Also a juco.. typically a top ranked juco isn't scared of competition

We dont have ANYBODY to back up D Jacskon. Gerald is ready now to intantly contribute as 2nd string DE.

And we don't know if DJax will be back true to form - especially not out of the gate. We desperately need another starter caliber SDE. At absolute worst, Gerald would 'backup' DJax and still get a &hit ton of reps.

HAHAHA Dude do you know Jon Ford is a monster right??? No one is taking his lunch.

Don't forget injuries...at least one and maybe two will go down for injuries for games and maybe one for suspension....that is at every position but especially critical at dl this year.

Every thread on this board mentions Tyson Campbell...... so weird.
