Can this past season be considered a redshirt year for Lyle
I’ll be curious on this if they go to the 9 game redshirt rule. Feel like a ton of guys will be applying for some kind of waiver or taking it to court.

Miami is bringing the entire running back room back for next season.

Running backs Jordyn Lyle and Marty Brown both announced they’re returning, meaning the Hurricanes won’t lose a single scholarship back to the transfer portal.

Lyle saw limited action this past season but still made the most of his touches. He finished the year with 108 rushing yards and one touchdown, averaging 3.1 yards per carry, and added a few catches out of the backfield when his number was called.

Brown was the more physical option in the backfield and handled a lot of the hard runs. He ended the season with 474 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. Brown also caught 20 passes for 138 yards and two more scores, and was a trusted option on third downs.

With Lyle and Brown both back, Miami keeps its depth and familiarity at running back. No portal losses at the position is a good sign for the Hurricanes heading into the offseason.
This is HUGE news
I was worried about Brown heading to NEB
Pringle entered
Lyle ????

To have the entire stable back is really nice to see!!

absolutely incredible news

Lyle injury must have been understated, and had an effect on the tentativeness. Otherwise there’s no way he returns to the same rb room he was banished from.

That's a stacked room. Would not have thought we could retain ALL of them. Bet Fletcher had them on group chat.

Lyle is the type of kid, who with shared/limited snaps, can head to a combine setting and hit a home run with athleticism, plus a good pass blocker and receiver.

I know Fletcher has SAID he's coming back but I wonder there's something Brown, Pringle, and Lyle know that hasn't been made public yet.

It’s actually spelled “Publix,” not “public.”

Oh wait…wrong thread. Sorry.

Huge.

A case study on managing not only player attitudes and personalities but your backfield investment allocation.

Curious how Lyle will look out of the Pistol. We clearly run better out of it.

A lot of credit to Lyle for sticking it out. I’ll be rooting for him. Needs to see it better. Has everything you could want otherwise.

I don't understand the Lyle move. I don't understand it from his end nor our end. Seems the best thing to do for both parties is to move on considering who is returning.
He was starting before he got injured. We can't ask guys to compete but then expect him to haul *** because of last season's injury. He believes he can beat guys out if he's healthy. I want guys with the confidence to compete but we need the coaches to interchange guys as needed in game

I don’t know how we keep everybody satisfied here. Fletch is going to be looking for carries to build his case for the NFL and seemed to do best in rhythm

****, this means Lofton is TE1.

I think Lofton can contribute, just not as a TE.

This just blows my mind. It honestly doesn’t make sense for all of them to stay. I’m glad they did but we feed two main backs and then a 3rd change of pace, some games. Where are 4 of them going to get carries? There are going to be games like A&M where only two play and the other two are wondering what’s going on. The freshmen coming in won’t even need a jersey next year.

You know many of these kids get paid these days, right?

IMO - This championship run opened a lot of eyes to the players. Realizing that every year now is an expectation of 16 to 17 games. These kids now know that they won't play every game but they will be part of a championship team and will be needed at some point throughout the season. (DB room too)

Fletcher is an All-Time teammate and won't care if he isn't getting the majority of the carries. Marty is selfless too & knows he isn't an NFL top rounds RB. Im sure he wants to be on a championship team for his final year. Pringle will have this year & the next, so he's fine with being a piece to the puzzle, because of the money. Im not sure if Lyle got a Redshirt or Medical year last year but he knows that with 1 or 2 more years, he's going to the NFL.

The expectation with our talent and NIL should be 3 years for most players. 1st year Redshirt (unless Top 20 Nationally). 2nd year 2nd string/gaining experience/snaps. 3rd year starter but sharing load with 2nd string behind (next wave)
That is what depth looks like on universities that are constantly winning & in the playoffs. (Alabama of old. Ohio St. Georgia of old. Oregon)

Portal will always be there for filling holes but the way it's going, a lot of regulations will be put in place for 2027 and beyond.
The higher ups wont let it continue to be this way. Stacking classes & talent will always be the true way to be consistent winners & players in the playoffs.
