Cole is a prime example of why you dumb ******** that were rooting for FSU in the championship game should be ashamed of yourselves.

Coles a smart kid, not the **** riding types that wont look at the future and whats best for himself so even them winning didnt hurt us too much but it did make it tougher

So the winning and him committing to them is a coincidence? Ok

You do realize that its February and alll the top Miramar kids committed at the same time right? You do realize that it meant basically "we're committing to the leader for now"? He committed to the champs but nobody thinks he's sticking mainly because he's a smart kid just like a certain corner on our roster now Mr. Artie Burns

You do ******* realize I just said the same ******* thing you did?

Tell me more about how he committed to the champs but ISNT a **** rider

chill............. I have no idea why you're highly upset right now. Point is he's a smart kid and committed to his leader but is very unlikely to stick like it always was

I say "****" all the time. I don't get emotional about high school kids on a message board.

"****" is just my favorite word is all. No harm intended.

My point being, the same exact thing was said about JC Jackson. I don't care what Pete says, I don't care what other people are saying, point is Cole is committed to the Noles right now and until HE says its different I dont care what the rumors are.

Our collapse + their rise = Cole's commitment

That's all I'm saying. Any other speculation is just that, hope and speculation.

I mean ******* speculation.

Smh ^^^ who cares??! The thread says "Miami Pushing for 2015 FSU CB Commit Cole" NOT Miami Pushing Al Golden back out the door..10+ wins is the goal for this year and seeing as though he's been increasing wins every year he's been here at UM, logic says we'll get to atleast 10. Although I do think most of the hometeam guys we get will be committed to us before we get 10 wins and as long as we're on track for 10 or more they'll stay as a strong pledge IMO

Hope your right. I'm not trying to push anybody out the door, I just don't like this myth that he turned down the job.

What makes you say we're going to wins other than just the fact we went up the last few years. What actual football components make you say that?

Seriously nobody knows for a fact if he was offered especially when PSU will make it look like they didnt want him as much in the end. Now there are surprise teams every year that nobody sees coming and those teams dont have the talent at rb, wr, te oline and secondary that we do for the most part. Defensive scheme obviously cant be the same but at the same time I think that unless AG is trying to get fired he'll change it up enough to allow the players to play hw they really want to. Finally I think RW can manage the game the way we need to and give the athletes on offense the ability to make the plays to win games and with the conference we have on our schedule that should be enough for 10 wins at least

He was in borderline tears at his press conference the next day and he disappeared for 3 days unaccounted for. Everybody close to the situation including the experts that run this board say he was never offered the job. That's the overwhelmingly likely option and that's probably what happened.

Thank you for being basically the first person to actually reason as to why you think the team will improve. I don't know if Golden will free up the players how we all want. He's said he would do that before he clearly did not and his history says he won't, but he knows he's coaching for his job at this point so he doesn't really have a choice.

I agree with you offensively and I'll put myself in the camp that thinks Ryan Williams will be an improvement over Morris. I find it interesting that everybody says he couldn't beat out Morris for the job when Golden has shown a shown a history of being loyal to a fault. That's why so many defensive positions didn't have a change in starters. I will add a little caveat that if we get behind or need to outslug a team to win, we will be in deep trouble. I also think that Coley will show growth as an OC and that can only bode well for us. In regards to injuries, Dorsett is running track at his usual special speeds so I'm not worried about him. Duke is a question mark. He's apparently gained a lot of muscle weight and I just hope it doesn't slow him down.

Golden dont need to change anything at all its the players coming in that will do that guy has done and amazing job so far im just glad he stayed the course with us .. Guy is a great coach

This is why people hate, "Golden slurpers." Some of them at least make a reasoned argument as to why they think he's good. You're just up saying, "He's a great coach because I said so." So if he doesn't need to change a thing, you think it's okay giving up 500 yards a game? You like losing to Duke? You like not going to the ACC championship game? You like getting blown out in bowl games? You like getting humiliated by FSU year in and year out? If he doesn't need to change a thing, you think it's tolerable to go 9-4 and not even win the division.

There are multiple things he needs to change, too numerous to name in fact. He has done a fair job here thus far and I'm very grateful he stayed with us through the NCAA issues. But to say he is a great coach is just idiotic and wrong. There is nothing to support that claim and a world of evidence against it. This year will tell us what we need to know and the first 4 games of the season will be very telling in terms of improvement and the team's faith in him and his system.

Im simply saying he has done well by my accounts starting this year is when i will begin to judge the team he fields to get 9 wins with that depth we had last year to me was amazing we lost the best player on the team and had numerous other injuries we were a 4 point fav vs duke not a suprise sam duke team that almost be a@m simply put it feels good to watch this coach many have blasted finally go crootin without his jands tied behind his back

I will concede the point that recruiting should theoretically pick up now that the NCAA thing is fully dead and buried. And maybe he did squeeze the most out of the talent last year and losing our Duke definitely hurt. But he has had recruiting classes here hovering around 10-15 on average and he has become so dead set on doing things his way that it has impacted the team. Coach L changed the defense from his aggressive man to a zone because it better fit his players. That is what good coaches do. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges with football to basketball, but the point is still pertinent.

I will agree that this is the year to fully analyze. If the team start 2-2 and it's ugly, the wheels could fall of and it will get ugly in a hurry. I just want the team to win regardless of who the coach, but I haven't seen the same glimmers of hope as a whole that you have. I'd love for you to be right and the worse part is the answer to our question is 6 months away.

There was a cloud, not as big as Golden would like us to believe it was, but it did impact us negatively. But, "trending upward," was just a slap in the face to every Miami fan that watched games this season. Notice he didn't say that the schedule quality was trending downward. He didn't mention that we played powerhouses like Savannah State, FAU, and 2-10 USF. That little slight of hand statement that he tried to pull on us is what really annoyed me.

Goldens make or break year period, has a very talented team, lets see if its shown on the field

Golden is a good coach that was put into 2 very bad situations and in light of his circumstances has turned BOTH situations around for the better..now that he's in Miami his expectations are sky high and he has got to fulfill them now his NCAA stuff is over but if that doesn't scream good coach idk what does. He did coach Lavar Arrington up at PSU as well as Ahmad Brooks at UVA. This guy knows how to coach talent now. I agree there are no excuses this year..

Also I keep seeing 2-2 being posted..I'm of the belief we go into Lincoln, NEB undefeated.

What makes him a good coach? Being 1-22 against teams that finished with 5 losses or less? The fact that he coached Lavar Arrington and Ahmad Brooks is irrelevant since he is no longer a position coach. He's a head coach. His success at Temple is slightly overrated because he had and was able to recruit Big East athletes in the MAC, which gave him a major athletic advantage. You say he knows how to coach talent now. We'll see. Other than Perryman, I can't think of any player that has outstripped their high school rankings.

No excuses is right. I certainly hope we don't go 2-2 coming out of Lincoln, but we'll have faced a Louisville coached by an offensive genius and a defense that just shut us down that returns 8 starters. Arkansas State is quality for their level and FAMU is awful. Nebraska will attempt to run the ball down our throat and other than Florida, teams that have attempted to do that have been successful. Being undefeated at that point in the season would give me nothing but confidence that we win 11 and go to the ACC championship. The sky will be the limit at that point.

I just dont believe in williams at all... Hope im wrong dont see him being a quality qb at all...

Ted appreciate the opinion... Get tired of seeing the same old tired *** posts about golden is fat etc makes no sense... I firmly believe he came in following one of the worst coaches in the history of the program shannon add that up with a 3 year looming sanctions and to do what he did i dont think we would of found better at all... And trending upward yes you might not think that statement is true but i believe it to be on alll fronts depth is starting to come golden is a great recruiter its coming...

I like Williams enough, but if he does start that really tells me all I need to know about Olsen. I think Williams will be serviceable, but if he does bomb I don't want to hear that as an excuse as to why Golden should get another year.

No problem, True. I'll classify myself as neutral on Golden at this point. I'll be extremely grateful to him for leading us through the NCAA mess and taking over a bad football situation, but his cherry picking of stats, the way he handled Penn State, and his loyalty to D'Onofrio really irk me and my patience is wearing thin. I would have expected to see better individual improvement at this point, but all that matters is wins and sustaining them.

Trending upward is a stretch, but Golden's definition of trending upward, his reasoning for it, and his refusal to criticize/address his friend and his defense is what is really bothersome. Recruiting wise, he is supposed to be an elite recruiter. Not top 15 good recruiter, but top 5 ELITE recruiter. I question his evaluations (Treon Harris, Isaiah McKenzie, Skai Moore, etc) but this is the year we will see if he is the guy and can bring all these facets together and get us back to where we want to be.

Man I've already stated why he's a good coach..his resolve is probably his best trait as a coach. He is never down even when you think you finished him he keeps coming at it. Just like he did with Temple creating a winning atmosphere for his last 2 years and just as he's done in Coral Gables. He's created that buzz back at UM..now theres a real sense of entitlement back in our fanbase where it's "10+ wins or better for now on" chatter. Before everyone was wishing us to be good instead of being serious with themselves.

And to be honest I don't think his success at Temple was overhyped by any means, you go visit Temple and show me what the **** a football program is doing being ran outta there. What that program has available to them as far as facilities and support is all credited to Golden.

But this isn't Temple and expectations arise as he gets further into his contract at UM. That's where his resolve comes in and that's why I believe he will prosper in the end. This team this year is almost 2-deep at every major position so no more excuses. When he first got here he said he wanted to be a better conditioned football team and to be bigger, well in 2 years I saw the same 4-5 DL out there every play, not getting pressure on the QB but, they weren't suckin wind over on the bench getting water ever 2.5 secs. Our LBs are coming out of the offseason 240-250 solid and still running like dawgs. He also said we'd be more competitive well the last two years we've finished 1st, 2nd in our conference standings.

I won't revisit this too much but the only game i thought Golden got outcoached in was Louisville and their coach is heckuva coach as well.
VaTech was just a mess and it got away from us..Duke executed all 4 qtrs (remember we were up 17-7 in that game)..and FSU was just a deeper football team then us.

No excuses this year but I don't expect any anyway coming from this staff..CANT WAIT

Your reasoning as to why he's a good coach is because he tries hard. That makes him dedicated, not necessarily good. His X's and O's have not been impressive as of yet and I don't how you can see he got outcoached in only the Louisville game when Duke and VT beat him by 18 with less talent. Creating a winning atmosphere and excitement doesn't win games. Coaching and talent does. The talent is there. We're going to see if the coaching is.

At Temple, he had a major talent advantage over the MAC teams. He had Big East quality up against MAC talent. That's an advantage. With that also being said, he never won a championship there and had multiple chances to do so.

You make a good point that his resolve will be the reason he finally puts the formula together. I agree with that with the stipulation that this will also be the means we find out if he's just full of hot air. He out talented teams last year with the exception of Florida.

But the major point that we both agree on is this the time excuses are gone. He has an advantage talent wise over every team this year except FSU, once again. I expect the offense to improve as a whole and I really don't know what to expect out of the defense if they can be a top 55 defense, 10 wins will be a very attainable goal.
