Tbh with Sales and Bowman looking more than unlikely, i’d be thrilled with a WR class of just Upshaw and Lennear.

Stevens too if the staff wants to keep him; but he seems shaky & a future portal candidate like Simpson. Don’t see the need for him

I'd take at least 3. Good guess that after upcoming season, we lose 2-3 guys in the portal (in addition to Barkate running out of eligibility).

But yes, Lennear and Upshaw would be great as your first 2.

Here’s my logic. We can’t rotate enough guys as is.

If we lose Upshaw to the portal it’s doubtful we will land Upshaw’s cousin. I suspect Moore breaks out this year; even with the three veterans we brought in.

We’re returning more production than we had last year; if we include portal additions as returnees. It’s an unusual predicament to be combined with 4 freshmen entering.

KM: 57/746
CJ: 50/557
Trader: 13/178
Johnson: 7/162
Carr: 3/45
Ray Ray: 2/25
Chance: 0
Total outgoing production: 7 WRs, 6 WRs w/ stats; 132 receptions for 1713 receiving yards & 9 TDs

Coop: 72/1106
Vaughn: 35/541
Jacobs: 32/548

Incoming production: 3 WRs; 149 receptions for 2186 receiving yards & 15 receiving touchdowns + 4 freshmen WRs.

Returning ‘25 WR production still on the roster: 3 WRs; 125 receptions for 1526 receiving yards & 12 TDs

Total WR only production in 2025: 9 w/ stats. 10 WRs in all: 257 receptions for 3239 receiving yards & 21 touchdowns

Here is the unique part I’m referring to; Total rostered WR production going into 2026: 6 WRs who caught 274 passes for 3714.

We have 9 (2 seniors, 3 juniors, 4 sophomores) possible returning WRs in 2027. Given the WRs in the ‘26 class won’t get as many opportunities as the WRs in the ‘25 class got, I’d want to stay clear of making the room too crowded.

I’m with ya on taking two for sure Upshaw and Lennear and just recruit a whale to the end or maybe just a speed demon to add some crazy juice to the room.

We have a ton of talent that’s young and will need to be rotated and if need be the portal ALWAYS has WRs who can play day 1 for ya if those young kids aren’t clicking when it’s their turn.

That will very likely be solved after the 2026 season. The room is already very crowded and I predict 2 or 3 guys won't be happy and portal out. In anticipation of that, I'd bring in at least three Freshman WRs.

We have legitimately 8 guys who would realistically expect some PT this year (if healthy). The only ones I wouldn't include would be Spafford and Evans. It will be almost impossible to keep those 8 guys happy.

The average college roster carries around 10 WR's. The top tier teams or high passing volume teams carey up to 14 WR's. Amari Stevens has been timed at a 4.39 forty. He will get faster. Their is your speed. I believe Lennear is the glue that keeps Stevens in this class. I believe Stevens is the Nickel who replaces Toney and Lennear plays outside. We shall see. I feel good about Bowman. The question is do we take 4 WR's in 27? Upshaw could be the 4th.

This team will toss the ball around this year. We will put up numbers. Recruit the whale receivers til the end

Good post but I’d like to say let’s not count chickens that haven’t hatched yet. I say we recruit multiple WRs and see how the season goes. I thought Lyle was the next great Miami back, JoJo was about to make a splash and then…

Agreed. Spafford, Evans, Paris, and Wingo have measurables and production needed to succeed at the next level. It’s just going to be tough for them to stay on the field.

I don’t expect Sales or Bowman to end up at Miami, but if we can get one of them or another elite guy like Dakota Guerrant then we should take them ofc.

I still really don’t know what’s up with Stevens but for the time being he is committed to if he signs he signs. He’s a speed demon wr.

maybe we end up with Stevens/Upshaw/Lennear.

Why? Are they friends?

They’re still chasing all the big dogs and I think that’s smart. I am not counting eggs; i am counting chickens as they produced last season.

Additionally, we have two WRs committed right now although Stevens’ status as a commit is in flux. For now, he’s still with us. Sales, Bowman, Upshaw, and Guerrant

We already see UF out to the lead on a guy like Jennings out of Dillard because we aren’t prioritizing him like they are; he has 4 OVs lined up and none of them are to Miami. So that tells us something right there.

Only WRs with confirmed OVs as of now are the two committed, Upshaw, Tre Moore outta Texas, Sales, Bowman, and Guerrant; the staff is being super selective.
