I understand the kid flashes sone athletic ability but I think he would be considered a “project”. Someone you hope you can develop just because he is an athlete. But we took a “project” last year in the same mold.
Someone we took just because of the athletic ability he flashed.
So if we take this kid that would be two “projects”. Nothing wrong with having a “project” but too many and you have a problem. Long way away from this kid committing so we shall see.

On the positive side, he's had 96tcks total in his HS career, 58tcks last year as a Junior, so if he's being recruited by us as a Safety then it's mainly for his tackling.

On the other hand, he's never recorded a INT in 3 years of playing, so his ball skills are definitely not up to par. If he's being recruited as a Striker Safety or Rover, I'm not sure if that's what he's best at.

I don't have a problem with the offer (don't think he's a take though), to me it's basically the staff doing their due diligence, but it's also them realizing they're going to miss on some of their top targets at Safety (Rique, Battle...).

If we're going to offer more Safety's my youngin EJ Jackson is the kid I hope gets an offer, he's a ballhawk & he's an under the radar 3-star that can actually develop into a legit playmaker at the next level.
Yes he does not have the best hands, hence is probably the reason he is playing DB, but he has good coverage skills and hes a good tackler.

Kid has good tackling ability. But ball skills are lacking, especially if he's never had an interception in HS. I'm not sure why we can't offer some of the other safeties in Dade/Broward/Palm Beach. We'll see how this works out.
Yes he cant catch but he has very good coverage and tackling skills.

Only issue is that he missed on numerous INTs and has yet to have one. He looks like a good FS, potentially a CB otherwise.
I dont know about u, but think balls skills are easier to fix than having bad coverage skills or bad tackling. That being said the kid shows instinct, can tackle, and cover, he just cant catch to save his life😭😭😭.

the kid is still a worst case scenario, and im also worried about the competition he is playing against

This taking S and making them cb's is the dumbest chit I've ever seen. Make this kids a wlb if he's tough enough. Don't think he can be a corner here but you could make him one I suppose. Would be dumb IMO. He's not good enough to play cb here. Just the fact that they even think that lets me know Miami has some wired *** dudes on the defensive side of the ball or whoever it is who looks at DB's. smh

Who's saying we're trying to make him a corner?

Ty Wise did in the Mid 90s...Great Kid...used to bring him packages from his mom, I was living in FWB at the time....

A loooong time ago I was considering a job in Panama City (Naval Air Station). That would definitely have been a culture change for me.

enough of the 3 stars!!!

Starting to feel like Golden years again when we had to convince ourselves of certain players. Like I’m good w projects, but not w dang near the entire class is full of projects. Plus we don’t have the depth to have projects.

Again, outside of Dugans, Hartley, and Brown, the recruiting decisions by this staff leaves a lot to be desired

You guys must be blind I like this kid you can't coach toughness and tackling in space perfect strong safety

I keep telling you guys when it comes to recruiting these kids look at the depth chart and the competition this is why you got to find a diamond in the ruff

We have plenty of safeties that are tough and can hit

We need a few ball hawk's in the back end

I wouldn't go that far. Though I do think that defensive recruiting leaves a lot to be desired. I am very happy with offensive recruiting, my only complaint would be if we don't take a QB this cycle.

Robert Knowles was recruited by the previous staff... this current staff has hit on every db target so far Emerson is a take he shows clear ability to read and react. Make open field tackles and defend the pass
