Miami native Arturo Dean transfers out of Oklahoma State 'I'll love to come play at home'
Oklahoma State guard Arthuro Dean announced on social media that he would enter the transfer portal at noon on Saturday. He is originally from the Miami area, where he attended high school at South Miami Senior High.
I asked Dean about his plans after entering the portal and whether he would like to come back home to play. Here’s what he said:
"I’ll love to come play at home or with my brother in the perfect world, but we have to do what’s best for us." Said Dean.
During his time at Oklahoma State, he was a key player for the OSU defense, averaging 2.5 steals each game. The 5-foot-11 point guard also recorded an average of 7.6 points, 3.4 assists, 3.1 rebounds, and 2.5 steals over 24.3 minutes of play per game. He shot 39.4% from the field goal, and shot 27.5% from behind the arc.
After graduating from Putnam High School, he made the decision to join the FIU Panthers. He chose the Panthers over other schools like Florida Gulf Coast, Jacksonville, Mercer, and Stetson.
In his two years with the FIU Panthers, he had an average of 11.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game in his freshman year. He improved his performance in his sophomore year, increasing his averages to 13.4 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. After the 2023-24 season, he chose to enter the transfer portal, where he was ranked as a four-star prospect before ultimately committing to Oklahoma State.
Should Miami make a move here? Jai Lucas did mention he is going to be a defensive guy.
