Miami men's basketball not in AP Top 25 preseason poll

The Miami Hurricanes basketball team and new head coach Jai Lucas will enter the 2025–26 season unranked.

This year’s Hurricanes are a completely new squad, no Jim Larrañaga, a brand-new coaching staff, and a mostly rebuilt roster. Even though Miami didn’t appear in the preseason Top 25 or receive any votes, there’s still plenty of talent in Coral Gables.

With the mix of transfers and young pieces Lucas has brought in, Miami could easily play its way into the national conversation. I’d say the Hurricanes are at least a top-45 team heading into the year.

This season is going to be one where we take the small victories and try to get momentum on the court to show our style to recruits/transfers, and build for future years. Don't really have more expectations than that. Maybe we gel quickly and pull off an upset or two? Just don't want to be the laughing stock of the league like last year.
