Five-star point guard Deron Rippey Jr. has narrowed his recruitment to five schools, and Miami made the cut.

Rippey announced on Instagram that his final list includes Miami, Duke, NC State, Tennessee, and Texas.

The elite 2026 guard visited Miami from August 27–29, as he told CIS. He also has taken trips to each of the other programs in his top group, including Duke, NC State, Tennessee, and Texas.

Miami’s coaching staff tracked Rippey closely during the 3SSB circuit in late May. Across the event, he averaged 15.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game.

Rippey, a 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect, is rated a five-star and ranked No. 19 overall, No. 5 among point guards, and the No. 1 player in New Jersey in the 247Sports 2026 Composite.

According to people I’ve spoken with, Rippey has shown interest in playing for an Adidas program, which would narrow his options to Miami and NC State. Those same conversations also indicated that if he were to choose a non-Adidas school, Duke could be the strongest contender.

Should be fun. Go Canes!
