I'm so glad we "settled" on Izzy.

Meanwhile, you can clearly see the Gators working the refs on this one. First, Davin Davidson is not in the Top 11, then he's 7th, now I've seen him as high as 6th.

Hilarious.

3 of the top 7 from IL/Chi area, plus highly-ranked lineman. I can't remember ever seeing that area as a recruiting hotbed.
Sounds like it. 3 more needed - 1. DE 2. Safety 3. WR. After that maybe another RB, TE? Is DeRoche projected to be a TE or DE?

Izzy footwork in the pocket is top tier for a highschooler and his ability to throw on the run is everything you want to see in a top tier qb to go along with his other attributes.

His energy to go along with the rest of these commits are going to keep UM competitive for a minute.

And a fourth was at the event: the qb committed to Indiana

I think the kids up there who don't grow quite tall enough for basketball are giving up their hoop dreams earlier than before. They're hitting the gridiron instead of playing mid-major to D2 hoops and the area recruiting profile is reflecting that.

You'd have to be crazy to think that Chicagoland doesn't have tons of athletes. Especially with the level of B-ball players that have traditionally come out of there. The focus on football has seemed to shifted greatly...

Jake Nawrot thought he was going to play college basketball even though his dad played college football at Iowa. He said he got his first p4 offer to play football before he ever took a varsity snap and said it was God’s way of telling him he should focus more on football lol

D-Rose’s and Jimmy Butler’s legacies are Jalen Brunson and Max Strus respectively when it comes to Illinois talent. It’s pretty odd that Chicago doesn’t have a or multiple premier aau program(s) like so many other hotbeds across the country

MVP will be named at the opening

From everyone there, Trae Taylor put on show and is the understood winner.. which is cool, Izzy was near top for many also, ranked 2 or 3.. Awesome showing..

4. Israel Abrams seemed to have the biggest personality of any of the QBs. He’s gregarious and engaging. At 6-4, 185 pounds, the Miami commit from Illinois is ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in the country and plays with a bunch of confidence, too. In his 7-on-7 session Sunday, he had the best throw I saw over the weekend. It was a legit “wow” deep throw in the front corner of the end zone to a short receiver who wasn’t open. Abrams dropped it on the kid who was covered by a taller defensive back and practically caught it for him.

“He has a real high ceiling,” said one of the Elite 11 coaches. “When he’s locked in, he can be really impressive, and we saw that whenever we added some game element and game atmosphere, he was letting it rip.”

The lore of that 55-54 game is going to be repeated ad nauseam these next few years lol. They might do a 30 for 30 on that bih :roll-canes2:

I know it’s early but do we know if his school allows him to enroll early?

Looking slow for this. Montini Catholic ATH CJ Harkins who signed to NIU was one of 13, 13 outta 32, signees who didn’t enroll early this year. Same goes for Izzy’s OT who signed with Northwestern.

Went back to 2019 and found Jim McElwain announcing Fred Stokes from Montini Catholic as a February signing. Same goes for Jermari Harris to Iowa and Nick Fedanzo to Illinois that year.

Appreciate that, luke may have the upper hand then if we decide to not go portal

Davin Davidson didnt make the final Elite 11 in Oregon. While our guy is the Alpha dog of the whole **** tournament. The Gaytah fans in Gainesville will need to huff some powerful paint thinner to spin how they beat us for our guy in QB recruiting.

Funny for him to be talking about someone flipping on signing day when that’s what he might do lol

Imo good move for the kid. Play in the same conference while going to school in your backyard, 1st qb commit of the new HC, Taven St. Clair looks elite and will takeover for Saiyan after this year, and the OSU OC who believed in you is at Northwestern now (Chip Kelly).
