Lawyers, is this normal?
Yeah. Unfortunately, the recusal process probably pushed this hearing back a few days as well. I don't see how a judge grants the injunction and admits on the record that: (1) NIL is really pay for play; and (2) a college athlete is essentially an employee who we can restrict from playing elsewhere. I saw Heitner is trying to move the hearing date up but not sure he can at this point. Spring ball might be cooked but oh well.

This is their goal, to make him wait and then change his mind. It's a pathetic showing from a pathetic group of people.

He should sue for immediate enrollment in the state of florida.
Duke sued him and they're about to land a QB in the portal. He isn't changing his mind. This is all punitive on Duke's part and they're doing everything they can to muck things up/kick the can down the road.

Exactly! A judge would basically have to admit that this is Minor League football or G-League football and admit they are pros which the NCAA btw won’t let happen to begin with.

Yup lol. Good part is he has to enter the portal today and Duke is already hosting other QBs. Presumably, deep down they know this is a money grab from them

Yes. I am surprised they granted a TRO, but this just puts a hold until Feb. 2, when they have to provide actual basis for freezing this longer with an injunction. Would bet that they can't for all the issues and he'll be freed up to transfer, with certain NIL issues settling or being litigated.

The difference is also that the Big Ten was ready to go to war for UW, I don't think the ACC will do the same.
The ACC won’t get involved in this imo. Miami is the only realistic link the conference has to any semblance of meaningful football. You don’t want to make that the catalyst of us leaving. Which would start the domino effect of the conference ceasing to exist.

Definitely don’t host a QB if you think you can get the kid back on campus. I do find it super odd that he cannot enroll he just because he wants to. Regardless of football. That seems really archaic imo.
So dumb that he enter the portal, commit to us but can't enroll yet lol

I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express so I don't understand how this would not cause HUGE damages for Mensah (not being able to enroll and participate in Spring practice) against Duke when he ultimately prevails.
