They can't make him stay, and they know that. This is about NIL rights, which if what they are leaking is correct, they may be able to retain. Then Miami will have to figure some way to get him paid.
Easy. Pay him lump sum on day after his two year term expires under the Duke collective contract.

I’m confused it feels like there is conflicting info out there. Some indicate this is over and others that it still needs to go through the legal process.

Injunction was denied. Still suing over his NIL rights I think. Haven’t read the complaint yet.

Isn’t it fun with players getting paid .. go canes !

Those NIL rights can’t be tied to playing at Duke or any specific school in a legal sense. It’s either take the buyout or pay for him to play at Miami.
Not sure on that not knowing NIL contracts and caselaw. But it seems it is the only approach to compensation they have. They are likely going to end up with a settlement. As AtlAtty says, we don't really care as it won't stop him from playing here.

Can't they keep his NIL revenue shares while he plays at Miami? At worst he gets nothing besides the money Duke paid for rights. But he still plays at Miami?

Having his NIL rights doesn't mean he has to play for them just revenue sharing goes to them.

Theoretically shouldn't be still be able to have 3rd party NIL deals not associated with the school and it's revenue sharing?

We don't have NIL caselaw but we do have employment law and these NIL "contracts" are toilet paper b/c they are employment agreements with another name; they demand employee concessions without being employment contracts. This is why these NIL "contracts" won't stand legal muster.

No, they can't. NIL rights are personal to the athlete and no university can take that from an athlete regardless of what these agreements say.

No, NIL rights contracts are specifically not employment contracts.
