Miami Emerges As Favorite For Duke Transfer QB Darian Mensah

Word around college football today is Miami is now the team to beat for former Duke QB Darian Mensah, who recently entered the transfer portal on the last day. This isn’t some long shot, the Hurricanes are getting serious looks and buzz as the favorite to land him according to 247Sports.

He broke out at Tulane in 2024, starting all 13 games and throwing 2,723 yards with 22 touchdowns and only 6 interceptions while completing 65.9% of his throws. He also ran for 132 yards and a score.

He then transferred to Manny Diaz’s Duke squad for the 2025 season, and he took off even more piling up nearly 4,000 yards passing with 34 touchdowns and 6 picks and a completion rate around 67%.

Mensah is back in the portal, and Miami fans are hyped about the possibility of adding a proven Power-5 QB.

Uber driver told me that last year when I went there on a work trip and I couldn’t believe it. Lovely downtown. I like it a lot. Stayed at hotel steps from the AA baseball stadium.

You should also check out Greenville. Best downtown in America for a city of its size. River and waterfall running through the center of downtown, with a beautiful arc of a bridge that takes you over some great views. Rooftop bars all over the place. And the minor league stadium is modeled after Fenway. Oh, and the Shoeless Joe Jackson museum.

Also, there are two LaSpada's in Orlando, one on Lee Road and one on State Road 46, across from BJ's Wholesale Club.

I loved it a lot. Been there, but it was about 15 years ago. I am sure it’s changed a lot.

I plan to check it out again this year when we play Clemson as I’ve never been to a game at Clemson.

I'll put a plug in for Publix fried chicken. I live in the south and I'm amazed it gets consistently voted in top 3 for best fried chicken in the area.

My grandparents had a house boat down there on Lake Norris, we went down a couple years. It was Lafollete (sp?) and we always went into Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Seiverville, outstanding area, plenty to do down there.

Clemson is a great trip. Beautiful campus, though the place where we parked was FAAAARRRRR away (and no shuttles after the game).

I tried last time, and will try again this time, to get a group of folks who will want to book hotel rooms on the river in Greenville, hit The Smokin' Pig in Easley, and then drive to the game.

People really sleep on fresh market for produce. They have legit deals similar to other big box stores but infinitely better quality.
