Miami Hurricanes edge rusher Elias Rudolph released on social media that he plans on entering the transfer portal.

During the 2024-25 season with the Hurricanes, Elias didn't get any playing time, managing just one tackle throughout the season, which occurred in the early game against Ball State.

The freshman stands 6-feet-5 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds. He was considered a four-star recruit when he graduated from high school in Taft, OH, and was ranked as the 26th best edge rusher in his class. He received scholarship offers from several major programs, including Michigan, Pittsburgh, Arkansas, Florida State, and Georgia, among many other Power Five schools.

We hope the best for Elias and his career.

Best of luck to him! Hopefully that means some of the young guys at DE are ready to step up and be great contributors in 2025!

Body types…..he had to put on massive weight and the reason he was quick is cause he didn’t have weight on him pause. A lot of these undersized guys use that as an advantage in hs but u can’t in college. If the guy is fast and is close to playing weight already he’s probably going to be a better prospect.

Well said.

And as a side thought -- I just feel like modern defensive ends in college are scared to lose their abs and it's hurting their development.

Beau Atkinson from UNC -- man gained 30-40 pounds and is about to be a millionaire. Look at the weight gain between senior year of HS and his 2nd year of college:

Pass rushing ability is a bonified metric. Additionally, the law of physics is as well.

I just wish we would put all EDGE players on a see-food diet.

P.S. -- you know Belichik will mandate his players body weights at UNC, just like he did with the Pats. We should as well according to the players body type.

Another Nyjalik Kelly? I thought Feld was some sort of genius. Not a good track record with lean guys.

Uhhh, I’ll give you Moss and Rudolph even, but Kelly’s a horrible example. Kid was 240 when he hit the field as a TF and is 250 rn…
Forgot about Moss. That dude must have been borderline allergic to food. I remember Kelly being a work in progress and not getting to ideal line/edge weight fast enough, and he lasted 2 years in Feld’s system (compared to Rudolph’s 1). Perhaps we need to bring Swasey back to train only the kids that need bulk that wouldn’t be impacted by being slower as a side effect.

Uh, is Feld the nutrition guy? lol. What does the S&C coach have to do with a kid cramming 5k+ calories in or not? He can't eat the calories for them. Sure the S&C should help develop the overall plan, but come on lol.

There is no universe where NOT gaining weight isn't a player caused or legit health-related problem. You literally just eat more. It's out of the Coaches hands. These mother****ers eat Cheeseburgers and milkshakes, they'll gain weight.
