Peter Ariz had a chance to speak with a couple of players at Miami Hurricanes Media Day, where he caught up with new Hurricanes defensive lineman Donta Simpson.
Here is the full transcript of the interview:
On how his first Spring has gone at Miami
My spring was great, you know. My mindset when I came in was just to be a dog. I came in just to make an impact on the rest. Did what I had to do, and now, hopefully, upcoming season, I hope I can contribute.
What's your weight right now, and your goal
I was around 290; now I'm at 300, 305, and I've been focusing on lifting and working out to get my body ready for the sport. I feel good with the weight, I feel way more powerful, way more athletic, and just ready to go.
What's it like having these experienced players at the same position
It's great to pick their brains because they have a lot of experience in college football. Every day, I just try to get under their wing and keep improving.
On working with coach Damione Lewis
As soon as he came in, you know, I picked his brain. As soon as I started asking him questions, you know, after practice, I came into his office and just tried to ask him as many questions as I could.
On his next step in his game
Just to get me to be stronger and to help my body develop more.
