Miami and coach Jai Lucas extended several offers over the past weekend during the AAU circuits, including one to Jaxon Richardson, a small forward from Christopher Columbus.

"Grateful to receive an offer from the University of Miami. Thank you to Coach Lucas, Coach Moran, and the entire Miami coaching staff for believing in the player I’m becoming!" Richardson wrote on Twitter after receiving the offer from Miami.

A couple of weeks ago, the Hurricanes' coaching staff paid a visit to the 6-foot-6, 200-pound small forward.

Richardson attends Christopher Columbus High School, where Andrew Moran, the newly appointed assistant coach for the Hurricanes, previously served as head coach. Just a month prior, he guided the team to a championship victory. The 6'6" player from Miami had several standout moments throughout the season, including a decisive slam dunk in the 67-49 championship match against Dynamic Prep.

According to 247Sports, he is ranked as the 19th-best player in the country and the sixth-best small forward. During this past season at Columbus, Richardson averaged 13.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 1.2 steals per game.

This year, he has already arranged visits with teams such as Louisville, Michigan, Alabama, and USC. He has received offers from 19 different schools, particularly those mentioned that are competing for the four-star recruit.

I mean I get that you have to go through the motions of recruiting this kid and offering him but really hoping nobody in the program puts any meaningful effort into this kid. Less than 0 chance he is coming here.

Why’s that?

Looks like he’s leaving Columbus. Will probably make it that much harder to get him to Miami now.

Might be true now, but wasn't true back in the summer.
