Just when you thought the Miami Hurricanes 2016 recruiting class couldn't get any better, it did.
On Tuesday, Wellington High School athlete Ahmmon Richards committed to Miami adding to the already stellar class the Hurricanes have put together.
"Miami really caught my eye with all the love they showed and how they do things. They have had a lot of recruiting momentum lately and that's just really cool to see them getting all of these guys. I had to be a part of that," said Richards.
"I'm just real excited about all those guys. Miami has done a great job."
Now, Richards says it is his turn to find some guys that he wants to bring to Miami with him.
"I plan on getting on YouTube when I can and watch some of these guys' highlights to know who I need to recruit."
While Richards is very versatile and can play safety, he says he has committed to Miami as a wide receiver and would compare his playing style to AJ Green of the Cincinatti Bengals.
"I would say I compare to him because of my ability to go vertical and go make a great play. I've got some speed and I know I have great hands. I'm explosive and the other defense knows that I can make a big play anytime."
Even though it's early on in the recruiting process and Richards fields offers from the likes of Tennessee, Ohio State, Louisville, and Georgia to name a few, he made it known that he is 100% committed to the Miami program and is ecstatic about the future.
"I knew it was time for me to commit. I got that urge and that feeling and I knew I had to commit to become a Hurricane."
One of Wellington's assistant coaches, Chris Forte, described Richards a little more from a coach's viewpoint.
"As a player, he is a sponge. He soaks up everything you say and that makes him very coachable. He is very explosive and is a playmaker who can score anytime the ball is in his hands," said Forte.
"As a person, He is quiet but leads by example. Family is very important to him and will do anything you ask of him. I had him playing outside linebacker his freshman year because I needed him on my defense. That's the kind of kid he is," Forte added.
