MDG Wins Camp MVP

MDG Wins Camp MVP

Tito Benach
2014 Athlete Marquese Dudley Gordon was one of the many prospects at the Al Golden Football camp on Sunday competing. He talked about the experience of being able to show off his skills in front of all the coaches.

“It was really good, they worked us out pretty well to see if we would get tired. I did one on ones and I did good with that. They taught us a few things and I liked it so that was my experience for the camp today.”

The Cypress Bay (Fla.) product was not only working on the defensive side of the ball but was also catching some passes as well.

“I’m going to play both sides next year, I already talked to my coach about it. I think I’m gonna get a little receiver and running back but also play free safety on the defensive side.”

The 6’1 190 pound prospect had an outstanding performance that was good enough to land the Camp’s MVP for Defensive backs.

“It was great, I mean I didn’t expect to get it. I just went out there and do what I do best and play football and compete.”

Dudley-Gordon is still waiting on a Miami offer but is still being recruited by multiple other schools including Louisville, Utah State, Cincinnati and Arkansas.

“I’ve been talking to Cincinnati and Utah State, I just got off the phone with Ohio.”

The hard hitting safety also got the chance to speak with Miami Head Coach Al Golden today during the camp.

“I talked to him once, he told to just keep competing, that I’m a great player to just keep playing football.”

Dudley- Gordon is highly interested in the Hurricanes and eyes one key part of the school that intrigues him.

“ I like their work ethic, I mean it’s definitely something that I like since I’ve been doing since my freshman yea with Coach Guandolo. The work ethic at the high-school level, he really gets us prepared for the college work load. Going out there the work ethic is similar.”

Gordon does stress that academics will play a major role in his decision.

“A great education that’s a main factor, the college has to help me with my disability. I’m not a great reader, I’m not good at comprehension but you know I’m just learning; I tutor every day. That’s really to help me, I don’t want to go to a college and be on the bench because of Academic suspension, so thats whats going to help me choose.”

kid has his mind right. I'll be rooting for him

I would like to comment on His character, the fact that he has the courage to admit he has a disabilty but shows that he is working on it speaks volumes about the type of kid he is. He is a very humble, young man and I hope he finds the best spot.

It does not sound like a disability to me, but rather a gift to recognize one's strengths ans weaknesses. Good for the kid. I was him the very best... Go Canes!

I hope he gets an offer so he can be our new age Frank Gore who we can root so hard for

any indications whether he might get an offer? Seems like he's capable and we need some defensive players

So then how did Micheal Johnson who jumped in half way through camp.

Go Canes

Close friend of his mom. This is a really good-hearted, nice kid with a really tough backstory. We're hoping hard that UM offers. Hopefully, him coming out there and doing work at the camp will get it done. I think he's got monster upside with tremendous overall athleticism. He's still learning the game, but he's got a ton of athletic ability.
