He's going to push Gauthier and Linder for snaps. Won't be ready for the big time interior DTs like Donaldson is. But I have no concern if we need to call him in for snaps in 7, 8, 9 of our games this year. He'll perform well above his pay grade.

I could see Gaynor and Gauthier getting the LG and C snaps with Trevor darling as a utility backup

Kid is violent.. doesn't just pancake you, but drives over you with a steam roller to ensure your as flat as possible...then backs up over you again lol

And when he gets off of you, he makes sure you smell his jock strap. Lol. Love C.G

This would be the best-case scenario. He wins the C job and we can kick Gauthier out to guard.

I think too many are underselling Darling and overselling what a true Frosh Gaynor can bring us. I'm not sure where this incredible movement to downplay Darling began. Is he a prototype mauler? No. Will he have a chance to likely play in the NFL, especially as a zone scheme OG/RT? I think so. We shall see.

I don't disagree with this, which is why I said best-case scenario. In regards to Darling, I'm no expert on OL, so I'm just basing what I've heard from people who've watched spring practice and have identified him as the weakest link on the OL.

Any explanation for your perspective? Would like to learn what people are seeing to suddenly be so sour on Darling.

I understand an o lineman can't be perfect, but he's super stiff, not athletic enough. Feet looked terrible at times. Whiffs way too much.

I think people are speculating on Darling because Richt put it out publicly that he is the shakiest of the five right now.

Gauthier is a really good guard, so if Gaynor comes in ready to take a job I can see McDermott-Gauthier-Gaynor-Donaldson-St. Louis.

It's hard to imagine three experienced seniors on the bench, but these coaches aren't shy when it comes to playing the most talented players.

Can we agree Richt is capable of using the media to motivate players just as much as other coaches? Michael Pinckney is being treated as the "shakiest" LB of the Bermuda2 crew, yet we know what he brings to the table.

While the coaches may not be shy to play the most talented players, they're also likely to play the most effective. What people are saying here is a True Frosh non-EE OL is going to shake up the OL. Hey, if it happens, it'd mean incredible things about our OL.

I'm interpreting offseason wishful thinking about an incoming player (who does look promising, no doubt). Also, lots of posters extrapolating from your Spring observation thread, where you mention "Trevor Darling is probably the weak link right now. He’s more of a right tackle than a guard, as he struggles with upper-body strength and leverage inside."

He definitely looks like that at times as a LT. He didn't look like he had terrible feet while he played RT in Coley's zone scheme. My biggest concerns with him would be punch and strength inside instead of his movement.

Lol Richt says one thing trying to motivate a player and now he's a jag. He said the same thing about Corn last spring. Darling will be a starter come Fall.

remember last spring how Corn was the whipping boy of the new staff!!! He got it coming and going. Has this young man, played a down in a position that best suites his skillsets???

Best athlete to come out of my alma mater since Anthony Rizzo. Can't wait to see this kid dominate!

He looks to be in really good shape...don't see how coach's can keep him on the bench...I have high hopes for him, and I noticed after some of his plays...he would be be in the other guy's face talking trash, he's ****y and I love it

Never suggested he would start just that he would push for snaps. We have 4-6 quality guys in McDermott, St Louis, Gauthier, Donaldson, Darling, Odogwu and a technicality sound kid in Linder. Maybe Brown can step up? That 8 best case with no injuries and fingers crossed on half of them. Gaynor will see time if he balls out as I expect. But as a TF he will struggle vs. the better DTs.

I would like to see this kid at Center. Centers are traditionally the leaders of the OL group. Having a guy like this with this attitude and movement and the weight he is currently at makes him ideal. Now can he read front 7 defenses and communicate? We never know those things until they get here.

This dude finishes blocks like Peter North finishes **** scenes.

I love his attitude. When he pulls he looks like a **** DT trying to absolutely kill the RB...except he's going after DE's and LB's.
