Martin Emerson Jr. Expected To Visit Soon

Last week, Miami extended an offer to Martin Emerson Jr., a 6’2’’ 185-pound defensive back from Pine Forest in the 2019 class.

“It felt good. This was my first big offer from a Florida team. I always wanted to play for a Florida team coming up, so it felt good.”

Miami offered Emerson despite the fact that he is committed to Mississippi State.

“I am committed right now, but obviously my recruiting process is still open.”

Emerson was offered as a safety, so Coach Banda is the man leading his recruitment.

“(He’s) complimenting my game. Talking about how I can come in and play early. Setting up an official soon. Not even just setting up an official, just coming down for a game.”

Emerson is a big fan of how Miami’s safeties play, but also of the history of the safety position at Miami.

“(They’re) aggressive, big time play makers. They have GOAT’s coming from that school. Ed Reed, Sean Taylor… I just feel like if I were to make that decision they would be good for me at safety.”

Coach Banda will spend the next few months trying to flip Emerson, and this is what it will take for that to actually happen.

“Really just me getting to know everybody,” Emerson said on what it will take to flip him. “Being on campus.”

Emerson will probably not make it down for the FSU game since it is the same weekend as his homecoming, but he does plan on coming down this week for the North Carolina game. That will be the first time Emerson has come to Miami for a visit. Emerson has already taken his official visit to Mississippi State and plans to take officials to Miami and Louisville later in the process.

3* from Dade - He is a sleeper, will be a great fit

3* from any other part of Florida - Dude is the back up to the back up

3* from Anywhere else is the country - WTF are we doing? Might as well get a 3* G5 prospect from Dade.

I love how apparently all our guys are sleepers or diamonds in the rough or are full of potential lol

He's a great athlete and is always around the ball. The only thing that is bad is his pass-catching ability given that he doesn't have one pick to his name. Since we're not getting TS or Battle, and given that we are bad for depth next season with Redwine and Johnson leaving, I don't mind the pickup along with Smith this cycle. Still need MAR whom you could plug-in immediately.

Should be more than ok with Carter and Hall next year!

Seriously why is everybody *****ing? He impressed me aa an athlete abd is consistently arouns the ball to nake plays which is what you want from a safety. Now he is a backup plan because hw doesn't have good enough ball skills but this waste of a scholarship and using this kid to say db recruiting is a joke is bull****

We are not going to get to where we want to be if we miss on targets and replace them with 3* back up plans.

We need bodies at safety. We lose Red and Johnson after this season. Our returning safeties are Hall and Carter, along with Knowles. Keontra Smith's the only safety we have right now committed. We could possibly move Frierson over there, but that's it.

Here we go again the 3* argument. Hmmm I wonder where our starting cbs were ranked their senior year at this time 🤔🤔? Hmmmm

And they're getting them obviously ans if any of them sucked id be on them but Smith? Yeah he's a stud not a fake baller a real big time safety and he'd be a 5* if he had the ball skills once again. You keep fighting for Battle and Stephenson but if it doesn't work Nunn and Emerson are both UM caliber

I'm starting to doubt if Nunn comes here as other posters have mentioned his family being big FSU fans. I like the (potential) Emerson pick up. I think he could be a solid safety.
