Mark Fletcher: "We definitely have a chip on our shoulder."

One of the leaders of the 2025 team is junior RB Mark Fletcher. He met with the media to discuss spring, his goals and more:

On what he learned from former Miami running back Damien Martinez, who is now preparing for the NFL Draft: I’m really just working on my patience, the patience and the art of being a running back. You watch Damien’s film, he’s a very patient runner and that was just something to add on to my game. So, I’m just taking those little things, little things like that and just adding on to my game.

On what he liked about his performance last season and how he’d like to grow his game this season: I mean, I was pleased just to be able to do as much as I could. I had a couple injuries coming back, couldn’t move how I wanted to, but you know, I think I was productive as much as I could [be]. But this year, I just want to take off, take off as much as I can, do better things [than] I did last year, for sure.

On his goals for the upcoming season: Just win. I just want to win. No personal goals for myself, really. I just want to win, and I’ve never been that way, to have personal goals. I know that might sound weird, but I just want to win. So, my personal goal is I can say is just to help my team in any way, shape or form.

On the team’s motivation after last season’s tough ending: We definitely have a chip on our shoulder because, you know, being so close, being right there … the margin for error is very slim. So, yeah, we definitely have a chip on our shoulder. We’ve just got to finish. We’ve got to execute, week in and week out. We can’t take [any] days off. You’ve just got to be locked in at all times. So, we’ve still got that bitter taste in our mouth. We’re coming for it all.

On Carson Beck: That’s my boy. [He's a] cool guy, very humble and we're locked in. Can’t wait to se him throw that thing. The Super Bowl, we watched it at his house. He’s a cool guy.

First off, most of the videos you saw of Cam were after the season when he was preparing for the NFL draft lol. Secondly, how can you not wrap your brain around the fact that the staff is telling Becks' crew not to post anything? Also, why do you even care if he posts stuff or not?

This internet rumor was proven to be false by numerous people in UGA's staff lol. Also, run back some of the spring interviews where our players had nothing but great things to say about Beck.

Also, nobody else on our team is posting videos of offseason workouts. That's the coach's orders. Wanna know why Daniels deleted the YouTube videos of his workouts? It's because the staff told him to delete. There is a reason the guy who posted Trader/Daniels/Marion working out deleted the videos from his account

I agree that nobody will see Beck throw it for real until the ND game. That's because ND is our first game of the season. Unless you mean that the staff won't let him throw the ball around during fall practice which I disagree with. I'm not the least bit worried. The guy is a 5th year Senior with 2 full years as UGA's starter. He has been in and won a lot of big games in the SEC. I can appreciate that you have watched a lot of UGA games but I've seen my share as well. Maybe he was spooked towards the end because he knew they couldn't run the ball to save their lives and his WRs led the nation in drops. I would have been spooked too.

I think you hit the nail on the head right here. No run game with a Searles O-line and receivers dropping balls (pause) left and right, what can you do with that?
