We were saying it BEFORE the injury, we NEEDED TE BAD.. Thats a development position and not ideal position to depend on true freshman. They tried to bulk Lofton up and make him a TE and we see he is not that, he slimmed down and gonna be used as more of a h back move piece weapon, even when bulked up he wasnt best blocker last year, he not digging out DEs at 235, we needed a true inline TE. You think I care about I told you so, I want to win, that position was a GLARING (we use it ALOT) need BEFORE the injury, thats why we were in portal thread.

If Scroggins is out, we are suddenly dangerously thin at DE. That would be a major problem unless one of the younger guys steps up.

Scroggins played 76 snaps as a true freshman in 2025. At 6-feet-3 and 245 pounds, Scroggins is now expected to be a rotation player at defensive end.

Agian, the staff really loved what they had in that room, which is why they allocated the money elsewhere. Even without Gilbert, there is plenty of talent in that room, so I’m not hitting the panick button. Plus, it’ll be really hard to keep SJ and Cogden off the field. This is a perfect opportunity to bring in an extra lineman

Yes confirmed. Agreed that’s a bigger loss. Miami will be playing without a TE basically all year.
Will be interesting to see what Dawson does and I yes I know he doesn’t use them but they still play a lot in his offense and block

The other thing is that he talked about scroggins along with Lowe and Wyman as if it was a bad thing. Lol.

We were saying it then, BEFORE the injury that the room needed more. TE is a development position, not really one you depend on freshman. Both freshman were on record yesterday saying they are just learning to block inline with viti. The chicago kid said he had ball in his hands 30+ times his senior year and barely blocked.. Maybe Ruskavik (spelling) gets a role now because he is older and has good size. The inline blocking TE is role we have and use in this offense, I am not worried sbout the split out role, those guys can handle that.. We ask ALOT of our TE to block DE, in motion, insert, dig out, etc.
Any you know this is not a gotcha post, you were in the portal TE thread day 1, you know we were talking about this day 1 when portal hit BEFORE any injury mention.
Here’s the thing. Thomas wasn’t completely to blame for getting booted in 2018. Dugans was just a huge piece of **** and Thomas actually showcased his talent in 17 and 18. Lowe hasn’t played one snap in his college career.
So Lowe gone, Gilbert out for the year, and Scroggins working his way back from injury. Does that cover it?
