Cooney in shorts and slides. Hopefully the injury is not serious and he is only staying out because it's a blowout.

Sounds like another DT spot opened up. Cast/Boot usually equals some sort of brake or fracture.
This is not verified but from what I have gathered I think it's a ligament in his ankle or foot that is injury.

I remember a couple years ago when Flanagan had Devin Bush. They were one of the best defenses I’ve ever seen in South Florida.

It’s amazing how fast times change.

They won the 8A title. As a proud alumni I don’t know what happened after Bush left. I think they didn’t care about spending the money to get a top flight coach and to remain competitive

You don't know what happened?
All those kids that Bush recruited left and went to other schools.

Then Flanagan hired an HC with a career losing record. (Lang)
After he was out they then hired a JV coach to take over as HC.

Doesn't have anything to do with money. Most HC's get paid the same $5k stipend regardless of what school they're at.
Has everything to do with administrators not willing to do what it takes to win. They rather make the easy hire. At the time, Bush was actually the easy hire cause he didn't need a job on campus. (so administration didn't have to find him a position like most coaching candidates) They got lucky and struck lightning. Chances of finding a good coach that doesn't need/want a job on campus is slim to none.
