Not a nuance, but the one quality needed regardless of scheme is ability to diagnose/read the play in a split second. All the speed, size and toughness in the world means jack if you don’t have that. Of the LBs/Strikers in our roster, the only ones that appear to have theater ability are Flagg, Frierson, and Smith. Which is why those should be our starters, absent portal, injuries, etc.
Neither Shaq nor Pinckney had great measurables, but they were both quite competent at diagnosing the play, which made them quality LBs.

Exactly, and Flagg is too slow. Keep him inside If he must be on the field.

To bring this discussion back to Graham, what matters to me is that his HUDL shows a stud athlete. It also shows him dropping into coverage then reading run and coming up to make the stop. But it doesn't necessarily show him diagnosing plays at a Sean Spence, Perryman or even Pinckney level. We need someone who can do that in this class. He could be the guy. Just need to see more.

Spence, Perryman, Pinckney, et al. All freakin Black Belts at reading a play. How can we have 8-10 LB/Strikers on our roster and maybe 3 have that all-important skill? What kind of genius is identifying our LB prospects?
