And the reporter should have followed up with, "What about the other 18 quarters?"
It was a very D'onfrio esque moment. He's certainly not that bad but i def had a flashback.

That fourth quarter stat reminds me of Al Golden constantly spinning why his defenses sucked. "The offense scored too quickly!" Yeah, it may have some truth behind it, but what about the first 3 quarters? That counts too.

Yea man, one of my issues with our staff is their selective stat sharing. It’s like they search 🔦 hard for a redeeming stat that is relevant and matters but it doesn’t excuse major inadequacy in other areas.

Every staff on earth does this, as does anyone who is smart about their job.

Bragging about things you're doing wrong is a $#!+ strategy.

I can't even be mad at the guy for using that stat because the reality is no matter how much I dislike the guy that is an impressive metric. Although the things that we do defensively can drive me crazy at times, if our 1st-3rd quarter play was more like our 4th quarter play I'd be a lot less noisy.

I disagree. I don’t believe everyone does it and that’s gonna be difficult to prove, ****, Lashlee doesn’t even do this and he is on this very staff. I’ve been successful and a top performer at every job I’ve ever held and have never had a need to find such intricate and pretentious stats to justify my worth.

Bragging about anything is a $#!t strategy.

Either you smart or you cheat.

Either you smart (do the work necessary to actually be prepared and successful) or you cheat (attempt or find a way to appear to be smart).

It is legit but the stat proves that our defense plays at a high level when they want to. It would even more impressive if Baker were able to get them focused, passionate and urgent for the other 3 quarters as well. He needs to find the disconnect, that stat proves there is one.
Depth,at lb, and corner

Why do we kill Baker and company when they falter but refuse to credit them when they bail out the offense like they did against PITT, UVA, VT?
I don't get the Baker hate. He ain't perfect but he ain't coach D either

The LBs and CBs perform excellently in the 4th quarter after they have played the entire game horribly. So if they’re not tired it couldn’t be an issue of depth alone.
Players perform better and more consistently when there is quality back ups behind them. Case in point the DL. Ford gets benched for Hunt. He gets a chance to start again, and now he's played his best game ever.

“Our last six games, we’ve only allowed a total of 17 points in the fourth quarter,” Baker said. “More than anything, our guys, they’re getting better and better every week. There are some times a team like Virginia will come out and has done stuff we had not seen from them all season long. NC State came out, they were hot, making high execution plays.

Say what you want about Baker I'm not a huge fan of his three down linemen every 3rd down but giving up just 17 points in the 4th quarter over the last 6 games is legit.

Turning it up a notch on defense in the 4th allows us to narrowly beat dregs of the ACC. Turning it up a notch on defense in the 4th will get us blowed out by great teams.
