JUCO LB Bond Commits to Miami

Tito Benach
2013 JUCO LB Devante Bond wasn’t sure when he would announce his decision 24 hours ago. Tonight, he is committed to the University of Miami

Bond was truly excited about committing to the Hurricanes and felt like it was the perfect place for him.

“It was the right place, it was exactly where I wanted to be. Everything was just right, the tradition there its “The U”, you can’t get better than that.”

Bond spoke with Miami coaches yesterday and said the relationship between them was a key part in his commitment.

“I have a great relationship with both the coaches, I have been talking to coach Franklin for three months now so, it was just great and I’m really excited.”

The hybrid linebacker enjoyed every part of his visit and said that he saw everything he needed when there.

“I just loved everything about it when I was there, the family aspect with the players it was just all right for me.”

Bond was originally planning to visit two more schools in possibly Nebraska and West Virginia, but he has now canceled those plans.

“I’m done. I’m not going to take them. I’m pretty much done.”

When asked for a percentage of commitment, Bond was quick to answer.

“A hundred percent, I’m committed. I’m ready, flags are going to be posted on the house. We are ready.”

Bond will be arriving to Miami in late may.

Before Bond finished his interview he did give one last message.

“It’s all about the U!.”

**** I'm excited about this guy. As soon as the season ended GoldenAl made it clear pass rush was #1 priority and they addressing it in the immediate and long term if we keep commits and leans.

Welcome to the U Mr. Bond

Love this kid shutting down the visits. Not messing around or leading on other schools, just realizing he wants to be a Cane.

How rare is that these days? It's awesome that this kid is ready to be a 'Cane, he's going to be counted on to contribute right away. I loved his comment about putting up the flags on the house. There's no turning back once you do that...

Great job, Tito!

does the 3 to play 2 matter? i mean, he's only playing 2, barring a season ending injury.

I've done a complete 180 on this kid, from thinking he was a reach towards looking forward to seeing him in a Canes uniform. I think alot of it has to do with a sense for his attitude. Seems to be a positive, hard-working kid.

Him and McCord on the outside and move Chick to the inside.
