The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Miami Hurricanes cornerback D.J. Ivey on Saturday on day 3 of the NFL Draft. Ivey, a product of South Dade High School, was selected 246th overall in the 7th round.
Ivey's impressive performance at his pro day caught the attention of many teams, including the Bengals. He recorded a 4.46-second 40-time, a 39-inch vertical, a 7.19-second 3-cone drill, and a 4.21-second 20-yard shuttle. At 6-1 and hovering around 200 pounds, Ivey’s physical tools excited NFL teams.
The Bengals' new addition marks the third Miami Hurricanes player selected this year. Ivey's teammates, Tyrique Stevenson and Will Mallory, were also drafted earlier in the event. Stevenson, another cornerback, was picked by the Chicago Bears in the second round, while tight end Mallory found a new home with the Indianapolis Colts in the 5th round.
