Introducing the FREE CanesInSight App

I'm fired up to announce the new- and totally FREE- CanesInSight App for Apple and Android users.

As the show and site have grown, I've learned that many CanesInSight users and podcast listeners wanted more from the mobile experience. Luckily, a Canes fan named Nate Levine started a company @Forumly that specialized in making state-of-the-art apps for our specific forum software. We've been working on it for months, and it's now available to download at the links below.

The App has a bunch of advantages, as detailed in the YouTube video below. It's specifically designed for mobile use and makes everything easier. The original mobile version will still be available for whoever wants to stick with it, but I'd recommend everyone to at least try the app.

In fact, those who sign up for the app will be included in a group chat (new feature) where I'll answer spring practice Q and As with exclusive, non-media info.

Some specific features of the app include:

- LIVE Thread Mode, which is designed for busy threads like Gameday and commitment threads. This feature allows users to set threads to LIVE, which means it refreshes automatically every few seconds with the most recent post on top.

- Improved DM function which is more like a text or group chat.

- More streamlined, less obtrusive ads (no ads to start)

- Integration of daily podcasts with website so both are easily accessible and updated.

- Improved push notifications.

- Ability to post pics straight from your phone with no long uploading process.

I couldn’t get it to work, clicked on live in the thread multiple times and nothing loaded. Not sure if it was my dog**** Xfinity wifi or what

We had a bug on Android that caused this but it is fixed in the version 2.0.1 that’s on the play store as of last night

I actually can’t reproduce this, both youtubes in that post show up for me and the second is starting at the future timestamp.

Ability to change colors on thread titles where you are up to date reading would be ideal. As opposed to just bolding.

Accessing notifications that pop up on phone to send you right to the alert. Sometimes it works, other times it takes you to the forum home page. On latest IOS on iPhone.

If a thread has many pages, any way to just go to latest page directly as opposed to entering a thread, having to scroll to bottom then click page number.

Or directly just access latest post?

Also on the web version we are able to see the different emoji reactions to a post/message, would be nice the app had that too rather than having to click into it to see. Otherwise so far so good!

ill look into the count bug, to see the reactions you can click the count label (which should have a carat (>) next to it.

is it a specific kind of notification that isn't taking you to the correct post? im trying to reproduce this.

Pagination should be at the top and bottom of each page.

The way it currently works, is it will send you to the last post you were on in the thread when you clicked back. Though we’re discussing potentially changing this.

Or did you mean like some way of swiping Snapchat style and getting to the last page?

Similar to the website, the app does take you to the last post you read in a thread. Since the app is new, I found when I click on a thread in the app, it takes me to the first post because I obviously haven’t read any posts in the app. After I scroll/ read through posts in a thread, then the app will take me to the last post I read.

Pagination only appears at the bottom of the thread for me. Kinda inconvenient.

Pagination only appears at the bottom of the thread for me. Kinda inconvenient.

Looks like that’s something we forgot to add to Android and just have in iOS at the moment but we’ve noted to add that in an upcoming release shortly
