The ’Canes hosted one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2027 class last weekend in the form of California native Jeremiah Willams. The four-star defensive lineman/running back caught up with me for CanesInSight following his visit and here’s everything he had to say:

Overall Recap of visit:

“Visiting Miami was a great experience. I got to bring my uncle and my mom. I got to meet the head coach, Jason Taylor, D-Lew, D-train all of them.”

“It was a good experience. I got to meet everybody, enjoy the trip and just get to see how much love they have on me.”

Highlights of the visit:

“The crowd, their environment. Even though they were playing Stanford, there was still a lot of loyal fans out and altogether I think that was really like a real big highlight for me.”

“Also, their Adidas sponsor. They came out with these jerseys and I really liked them.”

“Also coach Cristobal, he was really nice to me and the highlight was just seeing how he could really connect with me. We had a lot in common.”

Relationship with coaches at UM:

“Jason Taylor texts me good luck before all my games, I feel like me and him have a decent relationship.”

“D train calls and texts at least once a week, we have like a really good consistent I'm talking relationship though at the moment.”

“The head coach I also try to FaceTime and we usually hop on FaceTime every two weeks so it's a great relationship we're building so far.”

On being a D-lineman/Running back & the staff’s plan:

“They’ve seen that I play running back and fullback, they even said they were willing to put me in as a fullback and try to let me tote the rock but also they see me as one of their main D-line guys.”

“I just feel like I could do really good at both and it's a great opportunity my coaches are giving me to play both sides of the ball.”

On Miami’s performance so far this season:

“I think they're just slowly building back the program that they had back then.

“I know they're doing all they can and they're balling right now at the moment.”

What schools are standing out:

“In no order: ASU Miami, Texas A&M, TCU, Texas Tech”

“I see my playstyle fitting in all those schools”

On his commitment timeline:

“We want to wait until official visits and take it slow, probably the end of the summer, that's what I'm thinking.”

On what type of player a school will get out of him:

“They'll be getting the best version of Jeremiah Williams at whatever position they need.”

“I'll dominate and execute every type of test thrown my way.”
